Mask Episode 3 - Let's Play a Twisted Game of My Fair Lady

Who knew that surviving the crash would actually be the easy part of Ji Sook's week?  As Ji Sook is saved and then awakes in Eun Ha's hospital bed, so begins her portrayal as Eun Ha (hmmm... I think I will continue to call her Ji Sook since that is easiest to remember.).  Now she has to just convince everyone else that she is the dead socialite.  But no worries, Seok Hoon will be by her side, like an evil Henry Higgins,  forcing guiding her every step.

Producer ep 3: Poor Puppy PD

Welcome back to this week's first installment of Producer recaps! We've got a lot of ground to cover and this little ahjumma is fighting a wee case of the writer's block, so I'm just going to awkwardly jump right into the recap now without a clever opening line. Ready?

Orange Marmalade Episode 3 - What's The Sudden Rush?

It's time to get down to the nitty gritty of discussing the actual plot and character movement of this drama.  With less sexy skinship time, it is definitely easier to focus and dissect what I like, and what I think could have used some tweaking. So come with me as I chat the good and the bad of episode 3 - with tons of screen caps of Shi Hoo and Jae Min of course.  We are not going totally crazy just focusing on things like plot and character development.  The Khotties need their time to shine.

Ouroboros Episode 3 - How Many Killers are Running About Tokyo?

Episode 3 continues to dole out the awesome bromance as well as a hefty dose of detective work as our double dragons delve deeper into the mystery of who killed their Sensai.  But twenty year old mysteries are hard enough to solve without all of their leads ending up dead.

Pinocchio Episode 3 - My Mother is A Witch

This episode was a great transition episode as we leap forward and our OTP (One True Pairing) must grow up and join the real world.  Will they sink?  Will they succeed in a world that is stacked against them?  Will they ever declare their love?  Only time will tell, but this episode gives us a really good push in the right direction.

Blade Man Episode 3 - Who's the Boss?

It looks like I will be recapping Blade Man.  It is not that I don't enjoy Rain's new drama, but when it comes down to it, I think my writing style is more entertaining when the drama recapped is just a bit odd weird unpredictable.  Luckily, "Blade Man" fits all my criteria and also has the future possibility of going really downhill fast.  YAY?  If nothing else I will be able to let the inner sarcastic kmuse out now and then.
For those of you just discovering our awesome blog, I am Kmuse, one of the two main bloggers in The Crazy Ahjummas.  I am a mother of three and an avid kdrama watcher, in that I love to watch literally everything.  There are very few currently airing dramas that I am not watching so if you have any questions about them (or really any drama since I have seen an insane amount) feel free to ask me in the comments.  Or better yet come like our facebook page and ask me there. https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-crazy-ahjummas/336988683021748?fref=ts For those of you who have not read my past recaps, I am one of those bloggers that really likes to just discuss my opinions on certain scenes or concepts of the drama.  I don't go step by step through the whole thing.  So if you are looking for a more complete recap you might have to look elsewhere (and then come back and read mine of course).  But enough about me, lets get to what you are really waiting for and discuss "Blade Man".
Episode 3 starts right where we left off with Chang (also known as the cutest pouting boy ever) covering his ears and singing a nursery rhyme to himself.  Hong Bin pauses, overwhelmed with emotion, as he looks at his son for the first time.  Unfortunately for everyone, Hong Bin, being the emotionally stunted man child that he is, is incapable of translating his emotions to the poor little boy and instead ends up yelling at him to stop crying.  I foresee some serious Dr Philling from Se Dong, before this relationship is healthy.
Speaking of Se Dong, how cute is her little gaggle of khotties that she takes care of.  I can't decide if she reminds me more of mother hen or Snow White taking care of the dwarves, either way there is a huge amount of cuteness going around.  Makes this ahjumma suddenly have the urge to adopt a boy band of my very own.  Hmmm somehow I don't see my husband being onboard (but my daughters sure would be....kekeke).   Se Dong, like the good noona she is, finds herself and the nerd crew a new job and things finally start to look like they are going her way.
Things are not going well at the Joo household.  Two very stubborn little boys (Hong Bin is not really little, but the maturity level was about the same) clash as Hong Bin suddenly experiences the joys of parenthood.  Hong Bin tries to share his favorite video games, but Chang cries.  He tries to share his food with him (kudos to him for actually trying and not just ditching the kid to the staff) but again Chang alternately cries and throws up.  What is a poor dad supposed to do, but call the girl that he knows has a rapport with his son.
I don't know what magic the PD pulled for this drama, but I am absolutely loving Shin Se Kyung (Se Dong) in this drama.  She is funny, full of heart, resourceful, and really stubborn all in one awesome heroine ball. Called in the middle of the night for a Chang emergency run, she is able to calm the poor boy down.  Her version of magic is obviously just what this family needs (I got a little misty eyed watching her interact with the little boy.  I am appreciating that behind the crazy story there is a lot of heart).
Hong Bin, realizing a life line when he sees it, attempts to hire Se Dong as Chang's permanent nanny.  He is enraged to find out that Se Dong already has a job.  Words are spoken, feelings are hurt, and Se Dong ends up storming out of his house.  Would have been a perfect exit, if she hadn't forgotten her purse and phone inside the Mansion.  But when Se Dong tries to enter the house, alarms go off and Hong Bin (in a moment of pettiness) allows the cops to be called.  Afterwords Hong Bin threatens to have her arrested as a thief if she does not become his nanny. Bwahaha  If Hong Bin is this bad over just a caregiver, imagine how insufferable he will be when he is in love.
Se Dong calls his bluff and actually phones the police herself, declaring that Hong Bin needs to be arrested for defaming her name.  BWHAHAHA.  Poor Hong Bin is forced to back down and even apologize for his actions, much to the disbelief of his staff.  I love how his housekeeper even faints from shock.  It is so nice to see a leading lady not be in awe over the TKJ's (Typical Korean Jerks) wealth and privilege.
Se Dong's humiliation of Hong Bin was not going to go unchecked.  Spending the night pacing around his mansion trying to figure out a suitable punishment, he finally falls asleep giggling like a loon.  Khottie is starting to look crazy, usually not a good thing for those around him.
When Se Dong and the geek squad arrived for work the next day, they find the company closed and abandoned.  It seems that it went mysteriously bankrupt after hiring them.  Hahaha, Hong Bin impatiently awaits Se Dong's call and the acceptance of his job offer.  And being in dire straights with a gaggle of khotties to take care of, Se Dong finally gives in.  However judging from the amount of effort Hong Bin is putting forward, and his gobsmacked expression after Se Dong accepts his job proposal, it is obvious who the boss of the house is going to be.
My Thoughts:
If you take away all the crazy special abilities and spiked back, this show really is all about forming connections.  Whether it is between our OTP (One True Pair), a father and son, or a gaggle of khotties and their honorary mom.  I love the heart in the drama that is buried beneath the show's glitzy gimmicks.  It is this that keeps me watching, while the occasional King Kong superhero moments continue to make me anxious.  Not that I don't enjoy them, but these scenes continue to put the drama on the edge of a crap filled abyss.  Let's hope it can continue to go forward, entertaining and quirky and not fall in.

The Joseon Gunman Episode 3 - The Calm Before the Storm

We have another episode where we predominately get to see our OTP (One True Pairing) come closer together while the bad guys scheme on how to defeat Yoon Kang's father.  Since I am busy getting ready for my week of family vacation (why does it take so long to organize 3 kids and a husband?), I am declaring this the beginning of my mini-recaps!  Don't worry my readers, since you will still get a lot of content, just a bit faster and less in depth.  I really want to make sure not to miss any episodes so I thought this might be the best decision til I get home and can really give the show the focus it deserves.
Remember that we left off with Yoon Kang and Soo In facing the gunman on the edge of a cliff.  They gave him the enlightenment manuscript, but he still prepares to kill them.  Just as he is about to shoot, an arrow whistles past his head.  It is Yoon Kang's father and his men who surround the trio.  But the gunman is determined to prove that he really is the Joseon Terminator.  Instead of accepting his capture, he runs and jumps off the cliff into the river below.  Now if only he had screamed "I'll be Backkkkkkkkkkkkk" as he fell, it would have been perfect.
BAD (Bad Ass Daddy) is not going to be outdone and he jumps off the cliff after the gunman.  What follows is yet another example of a perfect action sequence.  Everything from the chase, to the misfired gun (the water springing out of the chamber as he releases the bullet), the flinging of the sword and the shot fired from the gun at the same time.  It was just a moment of breathtaking cinematography for us viewers.  BAD is shot (I am seriously wondering if this is finally the end?) but survives since his sword grazes the gunman who runs away.  Seriously, BAD has the lives of a cat, over and over again he cheats death and we are left waiting for that fatal blow to fall another day.
We finally are introduced to the male romantic rival of the drama.  Coming home from abroad, Kim Ho Kyung ( Han Joo Wan -Wang Family) is an enlightenment scholar and a close friend of Soo In.  He returns as a border at Soo In's family home (they provide housing for some scholars) and Yoon Kang is eaten alive with jealousy.  It is a competition between brains and brawn with the two men.
Yoon Kang is obviously starting to have a romantic interest in Soo In.  And since this is more important then his usually conquest all his player moves seem to have deserted him.  It is adorable how he is so anxious to spend time with Soo In alone, even to the extent that he tries to get rid of his younger sister by giving her an illness so she won't come on their "date".  But he makes up for his slightly awkward start with a sneak kiss attack during the display.  You have to love a man who goes after what he wants.
The mood is broken when Soo In's maid comes rushing back saying she can not find Yoon Kang's sister.  His sister has been kidnapped by the bad guys in order to use as leverage.  They send a note to BAD stating that they have his daughter and to come alone at noon at a designated spot.  Yoon Kang is berated by his father because of his sisters abduction, but starts to freak out when he discovers that she was kidnapped by people trying to get to his father.  Yoon Kang begins to scream at BAD, saying that his sister can not end up like his mother (she was killed by his father's enemies as well), and BAD locks Yoon Kang in prison to keep him from going to look for his sister.
Yoon Kang convinces the head guard to let him go, saying that he can not see the same thing happen again.  Our hero then follows his father to the meeting sight.  Yoon Kang confronts BAD and tells him that he will never again hide while someone he loves is in trouble.  He would rather die. Reluctantly BAD agrees to his sons accompaniment and they head off on their rescue mission.  Something tells me that BAD's number is finally going to be up.  There were enough ominous comments throughout the episode to pretty much guarantee his eminent death.  It also looks like we are going to have a time jump and a wardrobe/style change soon, since in the preview we see the more modern sexy Yoon Kang that caught my eye in the long preview.  All I can say is bring on the guns and the sexy glasses.

King of High School Episode 3 - I Need Two of Me

It was another great episode as we begin to see the difficulties in leading a double life.  It requires a lot of deception, letting people down occasionally, and running (oh so much glorious running).  I am pretty sure that I could just watch Seo In Guk run around for an hour, minus any plot, and still be totally happy.  Lucky for us we got to watch him run around and have some amazing plot lines as well which gives us the best of both worlds.
Let's start off this recap on the thing that is most important (WARNING: fangirl coming forth for a few minutes)  Min Seok is so flipping hot.  Seriously, everything he does is athletic perfection and I am pretty sure the director knows it.  Why else would he choose to show Min Seok doing every possible exercise known to man all in one episode.  We had running (so much glorious running) to the point that I wish that I could create a montage of him running.  Still photographs just do not do it justice.
He does push ups, lunges, jumping jacks, every moment of the show was filled with him doing some type of movement and most of the time he was in a full suit.  Who knew a suit could be so sexy when the person wearing it is exercising.  OK.......calm down Kmuse...........must keep things PG.  It's a good thing that they left out the whole changing/shower possibilities in this episode since I am pretty sure if they had added it in, all the viewers would have turned into puddles of hormonal goo and ratings would go down from everyone's inability to press play on their PC's.

Unfortunately Min Seok is not able to be in two places at once and misses his hockey scrimmage.  Min Seok apologizes, but his sunbae does not let it go and decks him hard before storming out (How dare he injure the fictional love of my life.)  It is just the start of Min Seok's reality that no matter how fast he runs, sometimes it is just not enough.  He is run ragged as he rushes to school every morning, then escapes out the window as soon as attendance is taken.  He then runs (yes more running) to his brother's apartment to put on new clothes and go to his "day job" only to rush back to school for hockey practices.  It is not often that I think it is realistic that kdrama characters pass out and need to be hospitalized, but for Min Seok I might change my opinion.  I get tired just watching him on my tv.
Every time Min Seok's two co-conspirators start to freak out I just start laughing.  I don't know why, but I just find their reactions to being forced into this disastrous ruse hilarious.  Every time anything work related comes up, Min Seok's eyes go blank and he seems to lose focus.  He understands nothing.  And by nothing, I do mean nothing.  I liken it to me understanding how the Internet works, you could talk code to me day and night, but all I understand is that I have to simply push the button marked "send" to put out an email.  Anything more is beyond my brain's comprehension.

Tragedy strikes as our high school hottie can't seem to keep his mouth shut and when Min Seuk is forced to tell his opinion (wow he is so bad at it, and I still laugh every time the president thinks he is being straightforward and intelligent) in a business meeting he finds himself heading up the presentation for a new shopping mall venture.  I laughed so hard when he asked his co-conspirators "What's a PT?, they probably do not mean this kind of PT (physical training) right?" and he starts doing jumping jacks in the hallway.  Hahaha, Min Seok's handlers begin to freak out and he continues to question what a PT is, which makes them freak out even more.
"All directors are asses!" No truer words could have been spoken by our leading lady Soo Young.  Not only does she have to deal with the total awkwardness of avoiding Yoo Jin Woo, but now she has to deal with Min Seuk who takes great pleasure in teasing her.  Min Seuk is the adult version of a boy dipping a girls pigtails into an inkwell.
Soo Young becomes Min Seuk's constant companion as she attempts to get him to focus on the PT, unfortunately he has the attention span of a hyper active puppy and is constantly going off task.  Instead of working, Min Seuk has them eating, doing calisthenics, and keeps up a constant barrage of teasing comments about Soo Young's one sided love for Jin Woo.  Through it all she attempts to remain professional, which is commendable because he seriously deserves to be decked for his ornery behavior.
You knew it was only a matter of time before Min Suek's two lives were going to get him into trouble (Our poor double needs a double.)  We see this happen when Min Seok has his hockey game scheduled right before his big presentation for the mall project.  Theoretically he should have enough time for both, but a freak injury with one of the ref's results in a postponement that cuts into his presentation time.  But this is Min Seuk who can literally do it all, he scores the winning goal and rushes off the rink to the shock of his teammates, then he changes in the cab (seriously would have loved to see a bit of that scene, director, work on that for next time) and when the cab was stuck, he went back again to his standby, running (Can never get enough of that..........SIGH...........) He rushes into the presentation, a bit late but revved up, and uses his charisma and fast speech patterns to wow the crowd and get the bid for the mall project.
Min Seok's team goes out to celebrate and I love how he keeps noticing everything that Soo Young does.  He follows her home after the dinner, begging Soo Young to forgive him for taking things too far about her one sided love.  Soo Young, who was in a very good mood, just says "fine, I forgive you", but Min Seok doesn't believe her and keeps begging.  Finally Min Suek buys her a bag of popcorn and tells her to hit him so they will be even.  After much coaxing, Soo Young does, and he goes down.  HAHAHA  They celebrate their new friendship by Soo Young getting very drunk while Min Seok watches (I love that he says he can't drink since he is a lightweight).
It seems as if Min Seok has coasted through all his troubles, he is getting the hang of this whole "work" thing, no authority figures at school realize he is skipping, and he now has a new bestie in Soo Young.  But this is a drama and things can never remain easy for long.  Poor stalker girl is determined to find out what Min Seok is up to, and bribes his best friends with food, so they will find out where Min Seok is disappearing to.  Imagine everyone's shock when they find out that he is posing as his brother and confront him at the office.  I can't wait to see even more hijinks now that the secret is becoming less of a secret.  I just wonder how long Soo Young will stay in the dark.

My Thoughts:
I like the leading lady when she is interacting with Min Seok, but whenever she is around Jin Woo I just cringe.  So awkward and embarrassing.   I hope Soo Young gains a bit more confidence in herself as the show progresses.

Does anyone else just melt every time Min Seok has a scene with his grandfather?  He is so kind and caring whenever he takes out time to play with him, even if he is exhausted.   Those little scenes bring a level of caring to Min Seok's character that we don't get to see as much in his work persona.
I like how Min Seok is slowly moving from a kid playing at being a grownup, to actually being comfortable in his new role.  It is something that is so subtle that you begin to forget that he is just a high school kid.

Witch's Romance Episode 3 - Everythings coming up Yoon Dong Ha

Witch's Romance continues to run away with my heart as we finally get to see what happens when Ban Ji Yeon does the unthinkable and kicks out the delicious Dong Ha from her bed.   SERIOUSLY!  WHO DOES THAT?   But never fear, Yoon Dong Ha is not your normal younger man in a noona drama.  He is the super cute puppy like hunky man all around white knight and can overcome cranky noonas.  He is also 100% what makes this drama work.  I think if it had a different leading man it would not have clicked with me the way it is now.  So that is why we are going to do a Dong Ha centric recap today, because I personally can not get enough of his adorable cuteness.
So back to the beginning, our cute Dong Ha is half naked and lying on the floor with a confused look on his face.  The poor boy is then promptly kicked out the door, still wondering what just happened and why this lady is screeching about an age difference.  Wouldn't the normal reaction be "sweet I look young enough to score with a younger man?"  But no, the poor sexually frustrated boy must go home (across the walkway... hehehehe..... can't wait for this to become common knowledge) and go from confusion to smacking his head as he wonders what he was thinking.  I love when he mutters to himself  "Why does she have to live next door?  Lets stop getting tangled please."  She is in her apartment also muttering to herself that she is so lucky that Seoul is such a big city and they shouldn't have to ever meet again.  LOL  There is fate out to get them again.

But everything is not all flowers and sausages the next morning when the part time guys wake up to find that they have been a victim of a vicious article in "Troublemaker".  It seems that even though he provided a refund to the Evil Coworker Trio, they did not let it go and wrote a scathing article on what a scam their fix it company was.  All of the odd job appointments were cancelled and a bunch of negative comments froze their web page. (YAY for a scene with BFF Hottie!!!!)
Enraged and full of rightful indignation, Dong Ha storms the newsroom and begins to berate the inept trio.  (I love that he is not a weakling and goes to confront the problem right on.)  They wonder why he is here and how he is connected to the "witch".  And then ask in disbelief, "did she hire you?" and her injured assistant comments "as expected, Senior Ji Yeon is a step ahead of everyone."  However he tells them that he was disgusted with their immature behavior and stepped in to stop it.  Who knows how long the argument would have gone on, if not for Ji Yeon arriving.........and freaking out when she sees Dong Ha.  Dragging him in the hallway she begins interrogating him as to why he is here.  When he replies "because of yesterday" (meaning the article against his business) she misunderstands and keeps slapping her hand over his mouth afraid that he was going to spill the "almost sex" beans.
The situation is in mid resolve (the president of the magazine had to get involved) when Ji Yeon receives a brightly wrapped package.  However our white knight Dong Ha notices blood is beginning to drip from the bottom of the box.  (EWWWWWWWW!!!!  That is so gross and I was totally expecting there to be a dead rat or something in the box.  It turns out to be a bird?  Huh?  Why a bird?)  Faking a calm veneer, Ji Yeon makes it into the bathroom before freaking out in private.  Dong Ha in the meantime is negotiating with "Trouble Makers" president so he can not only be recompensed for the damage done by the magazine, but also be able to protect Ji Yeon from further harassment.  He is now the official assistant to star reporter Ji Yeon (at least for three months).
Ji Yeon immediately begins laying down the law and threatening Dong Ha with the possibility of being fired.  He has to talk to her in a certain way, but not unless she gives him permission to ask questions.  And above all else he must forget that anything sexual ever happened between them or else he is fired.  I love how he just humors her and I always feel like he is on the edge of patting her on the head.
Taking his new boss to her home (he is such a cute little bodyguard/assistant) Dong Ha continues to follow her until she starts yelling at him to go home.  The time finally arrives where he tells her that he is home since he lives next door, and it is hilarious.  Ji-Yeon instantly goes into conspiracy mode and figures that Dong Ha is a super efficient stalker who had managed to get them to meet over and over.  Dong Ha just rolls his eyes and closes his door in her face.
She enters her own house and starts her nightly loud music/dancing routine, but realizes half way through that her nosy neighbor hottie can probably hear everything she is doing. HAHAHA  It just so happens that Dong Ha is smiling and tapping his foot along with the music, commenting to himself about her cute habits.  But when she turns off the music mid song he begins to worry and rushes over to the rescue.  Ji Yeon  again accuses him of being a stalker but is caught off guard when he yells that he was worried about her.  Glancing down and seeing that he was in such a rush that he put on two different shoes she forgives him.  And since she is a little unsettled and jumpy from the experience it would be all right if Dong Ha hung out for a while.
Ji Yeon offers her savior a beer but quickly recants with an awkward look.  Instead they decide to watch TV, but instead of something bright and entertaining, a steamy make out scene is playing.  HAHAHA  So what do two almost lovers  do when everything seems to be a reference to their previous evening.  They listen to the radio of course.  And we viewers are highly entertained by an impromptu competition between the two over the quiz show they are listening to.  I love that both are so competitive and that they can still enjoy the competitive nature of each other.  One thing leads to another til they begin discussing music and finds out that Dong Ha does not know any of the songs from Ji Yeon's youth.  Luckily this possible disaster age gap moment is overcome when they realize they both like a common song (one that had played when she was young, but had a remake version by Big Bang).  They finish off the night singing it together, with Dong Ha adding in the Big Bang rap chorus.  It truly was a cute scene to show that they can overcome the age gap if they work at it.
They are suddenly woken the next morning by Ji Yeon's mother banging on her door.  Dong Ha is thrown into the closet to hide and a flustered Ji Yeon opens the door.  Her mother is as funny as ever, as she informs her daughter that she had signed Ji Yeon up for a dating service.  I love that mom was insistent that it had to be now since if it was after Ji Yeon turned 40 it would cost more.  Hehehe.  I guess avoiding blind dates was more important then a moment of embarrassment since Ji Yeon promptly dragged Dong Ha out of the closet and claimed him as her boyfriend.  Her marriage obsessed mother was so happy and already calling Dong Ha "son-in-law" (and probably picking out the wedding venue.)  Dong Ha goes along with it but you can tell there is going to be some reckoning later on.  He politely says his farewells (cute bed head and all) and takes himself and his mismatched shoes home.  This was such a cute scene and hopefully is a set up for some really funny moments in the future.

Just when you think everything is good and it is safe to be home, the real stalker/thug returns.  This time in her actual house (I would just like to tell all you female readers out there, if your door is open and someone is stalking you, DO NOT GO INSIDE YOUR HOUSE!!!!!!!!!) where she finds everything destroyed and a blood covered nightgown hanging up with an ax through it.  Unfortunately for our heroine, the thug is still in the house and breaks through a window pain and chokes her.  Our white night hottie arrives just in time to scare him off and save Ji Yeon, but talk about a terrifying experience.  Dong Ha rushes her to the hospital and we see Ji Yeon drifting in and out of consciousness.  She reflects on her past heartache and relationship and then wonders if she is brave enough to try again as her gaze focuses in on Dong Ha.
My Thoughts:
I think we still are going to have a long wait before these two  officially hook up, no matter how many times he saves her.  She seems to be very stubborn so I am sure it is going to be an uphill battle.  But that is fine by me as long as the show continues to bring us these super cute and funny moments between the OTP.  I am not looking forward to the return of the ex-boyfriend.  What he did was pretty despicable and I am not sure if there is any excuse that can actually make me accept him as a possible significant other again.  I guess we will learn more in the next episode.
