Oh My Ghostess FINALE (ep16): OH MY GHOST - WHAT A DRAMA!

Dear Kdrama gods, I thank you for the wonderful gift that was this drama. As it comes to an end, I feel a mix of emotions from elation to despair. Such a beautiful ending but I'm so sad to see it go. I laughed, I cried, I had butterflies dancing a jig. It was pretty much as near perfect as a drama, and drama ending, can get.

I Remember You Episode 16 FINALE - It's the End of the World As We Know It

It's the final episode and with it brings so many emotions.  Anger, sadness, lust........I mean more anger.  *whispers ---- but did you notice how good Hyeon's new hairstyle looks?  Yum.*  It's time for the last of our questions to be answered and for our bad guys to finally get what they deserve.  Or is it?  Join Dongsaeng and I as we discuss the final episode as well as what we thought about the drama as a whole.  I know that I personally am a little teary eyed at the thought that this will be our last recap (at least for this drama).

Orange Marmalade Ep 12 Finale - Music Conquers All

Here we are at the finale people!  And while we don't get any huge plot surprises, we do get a sincere conclusion on the characters' story.  Which, considering how often kdramas can fall flat on the last episode, is all we can really ask for.

Producer Ep 12 FINALE - And the Beat Goes On

I can't believe that we are at the end.  It seriously felt like we just started recapping this drama.  But  now it is time to not only recap episode 12, but let you know our feelings about the drama as a whole.  So please welcome Dongsaeng, who is joining me for this final farewell to "Producer".

Hyde, Jekyll, and I Episode 20 - Hyde Jekyll and I Am So Done

Hello all!  If you are reading this it means you have completed the journey of watching this epic fail of a drama.  Or at least have succeeded in reading the recaps.  First off, thanks for keeping with us as we recapped. I hope that we made this drama a bit more entertaining for you.  I am just so excited that we done!  Dongsaeng and I enjoy doing the final recap of our dramas together so you are lucky and get two recappers for the price of one.  So without further ado, let's put this sucker to bed, once and for all.

Pinocchio 20: Happily Ever After

Hey all, Dongsaeng and Kmuse here to bring you the finale recap for the excellent kdrama "Pinocchio".  I personally am so thankful that the writers did not drop the ball at the end, but instead produced a strong, complete, and enjoyable ending.  No huge gaps were left and while I personally would have tweaked the focus here or there, the overall story was true to the end of its theme of family, justice, and ethical reporting.   We are going to switch things up a little since it is the finale (and more importantly a finale that we both enjoyed) so we will be co-writing this post.

My Secret Hotel episode 16: Well, It's Over

Upon finishing this week's two finale episodes, my initial thought was relief. Relief that I got to cover 16 and not 15. If I had had to take on 15, well, I just don't know what I would have done. Ten minutes in, I was texting Kmuse and screaming at the insanity of it all. I was frustrated. With a capital F. As in, "what the F...(Foghorn Leghorn - he sure was frustrating)"??  I had to stop watching it and wait for Kmuse's recap first before I could continue. I had wished I could do the same for 16 too, but, obviously that wasn't going to work. I guess I'm the "skip to the end of the book" kind of person. I am. There's no use denying it. I don't like spoilers, but there are times when they are necessary in order for me to continue on and/or save my sanity.

King of High School Episode 17 FINALE - It's A Wedding!

Remember my tiny rant last week about how much I get annoyed that kdrama writers always solve age related problems with the use of a time jump?  Well obviously the writers are reading my blog (yes I know that that is probably not true, but let a blogger have her dreams) and decided to do the unthinkable by letting the couple stay together without miraculously taking away all of their conflicts.  YAY for writers that are willing to think outside of the genre's small box and I personally think that their efforts reaped great rewards as we get a finale that is not only fresh, but fits the personality of the rest of the show.
In the last episode we focused on all of the trials that our OTP (One True Pairing) were facing.  It is not that I think that a 10 year age difference is something insurmountable (barely worth an eyebrow raise in most situations), however I think the biggest problem is where the couple are when faced with that age gap.  Being a teenager is difficult enough without adding the stress of supporting a wife, which is why I was very surprised when instead of a time jump the writers decided to just let the couple get married.  Usually I would say that it was a mistake (just imagine some of the other noona romances in the same situation and you will see my point.  Flower Boy Ramyun Shop would have been a very different show if they had gotten married while he was still in high school.  Some people can cope and other couples are just to dysfunctional to realistically make it without the maturity a time jump supposedly brings.)  Luckily for us, the writers kept the characters grounded in reality enough to make it seem plausible.  Add in Min Seok and Soo Young's abundance of optimistic gumption and impulsive nature and I am totally on board with the impending nuptials.
Even the proposal was just so them that my heart fluttered in the wake of the adorableness.  Min Seok attempts to break up with Soo Young since he feels that he can not be the type of man she needs in her life.  Min Seuk tells her that he is still in high school and has the maturity level that comes with his age resulting in misunderstandings and anger, he requests one last kiss to remember her by.  As he kisses Soo Young's forehead tears begin to fall from his eyes and my heart is breaking.  Min Seok is sobbing as he walks away, but is stopped as Soo Young grabs him and asks him not to go.  Instead he should marry her and she will be his family.
I am pretty sure my face mirrored Min Seok's as he realizes that he just got proposed to.  There is a lot of back and forth excitement and concern about their decision, but they finally confirm their love when Min Seok officially proposes to Soo Young via ginormous bag of popcorn in loo of a ring.  And can I just state that his popcorn proposal kiss is beyond steamy and  is beautifully captured by the cameras.  I continue to be amazed at how many unique ways the director can sneak in his skinship shots.  This was the last in a long line of great kisses, hugs, and intimate hand holds.
Now that our OTP have decided upon their life path, the difficult aspect of telling their parents is before them.  Well, telling their parents and getting Director Kim (previously Team Leader Kim) to let Min Seok go.  The work team finds out that Soo Young and Min Seok are planning to marry and poor Director Kim comes close to fainting yet again.  He pulls Soo Young into his office and asks if she truly is planning on marrying his Suk?  Hahahaha.  He then tells her to treat Min Seok well and to please be understanding of his needs, including his porn needs, since he is of an age where those kind of things are important.  Director Kim continues his long list of things that Soo Young needs to do for "his" Min Seuk until Soo Young finally pats him on the hand and states that Min Seok is actually hers and Director Kim needs to work on his obsession issues.  Phtttt.
Min Seok's father is surprisingly easy to convince, it amused me that Min Seok's way of showing his father that he is mature enough to marry involves rolling around on the floor and begging like a five year old.   But one hanbock wearing, apple carving, Soo Young later and father Choi caves to the epic love of the couple.  Soo Young's mother is not as easy an adversary.  Caught holding hands before they can decide a way to tell  Oma, they end up letting her continue to assume he is a director.  I personally was so amused by stalker in the background shaking her head at the OTP's shenanigans.
The truth comes out however when Oma is delivering some herbal tonic to Yoo Ah's teacher and comes face to face with Min Seok in his high school uniform and Yoo Ah yelling "brother in law" as she sees him.  Even his BFF's were there with broom and bucket creating the perfect deja vu moment of Soo Young's discovery.   To say Oma was not happy was an understatement (but really what mother would be happy finding that her awkward daughter is marrying someone not even out of high school.)  But true to his bulldozer nickname, Min Seok wages a war for her approval and eventually Oma gives in.  When Yoo Ah asks why, she replies that she had to since so many people were driving her nuts asking her to give her permission.  Even a annoying person called Director Kim and a small man that looked like an anchovies brought over a fruit basket pleading Min Seok's case.  If Min Seok can have so many loyal supporters then that says something about the type of person he is.
The wedding ceremony is held in the sports field where they had so many cute couple moments and is a  hodgepodge of their work and school friends. Jin Woo puts it best when he says "their wedding is just like them" as the couple rushes in late due to losing the rings.  Rushed since their train leaves in 10 minutes for their honeymoon, the couple send Director Kim (who is MCing the event) into panic mode and he quickly overrides all the formality to get them off on their honeymoon.  It truly is a perfect wedding for a quirky and imperfect couple.
Skip forward 3 years and we see the usual cute couple moments that you expect (haha, notice how they did not show the married couple being couplish until after he was finally legal.).  Min Seok is working his way up by promoting his ideas for a couples exercise gym and Soo Young continues as a secretary for Director Kim.  We watch as our OTP walks up the same staircase where they shared their first kiss.  A montage of their best relationship scenes plays as Soo Young has a monologue about making hard decisions and working through the difficult times.  My heart is touched as I realize how perfect this drama really was in showing the growth of a love story and I bid a fond farewell to this show, its characters, and this couple, as Min Seok and Soo Young share one last kiss.
I am so sad to say goodbye to this drama.  Not only is Seo In Guk my #1 favorite actor, but also this drama was so entertaining from start to finish.  I am going to continue on recapping "The Joseon Gunman" (I know, I know, I have a ton of work to do in catching up) and will choose another drama to recap soon.  In the past I have usually just started on the next TvN drama (after all they are my favorite tv station), but with the new drama being "The Three Musketeers" I think I will take a break and wait.  Two Sageuk recaps might be a bit much for this blogger to handle.  However I plan on adding some more weekly segments to the blog so continue to check back often.  I will also be continuing to chat about various dramas and kpop on our FB page.  For those of you who are interested in joining the discussions come like us at

Gap Dong Episode 20 (FINALE) - The End is Here

Gap Dong ends with a surprisingly well done finale which was a shock after multiple episodes of insanity.  Unfortunately a descent ending does not take the bitter taste out of my mouth when I think about this train wreck of a drama.  All of the missed opportunities to create something really memorable (in a good way) is enough to make a drama aficionado cry, but regardless of what I feel about the drama, at least it is finally over.  So let's take one last walk into this world and see what we have learned.

-Things we learned from Gap Dong-
#1 The bad guys are always caught in the end
Even if it is after 20 years, 18+ murders, 1 bullet to the brain, countless inept police, crooked politicians, enabling parents, and a lot of unfortunate people who are mentally devastated by the cops investigation.  Don't you worry, the police will always get their guy.  DGD is given a death sentence and falls apart at the thought of dying.  Tae Oh on the other hand played his cards right and received a 10 year sentence in a mental institution, a much lesser sentence than was originally planned.  I guess the one who can play crazy better wins in the end.  Not only that but by giving up his Korean citizenship (he had a dual American citizenship) and is trying to get shipped overseas for treatment.
#2 All serial killers have an irrational fear of death
This show keeps forgetting it's own premise that the killers (Detective Gap Dong & Tae Oh) are psychopaths and are incapable of feelings.  Unless the writers decide otherwise, then they freak out over everything, especially the fear of their own mortality. It was one of the main flaws I had with the movie.  If the killers are meant to be soulless and scary (because let's just admit that their crimes and actions in the beginning were very very scary) then let them stay that way.  Don't try to make me empathize with them.  This show would have been greatly improved with more "who did it" rather than the prevalent "why they did it".   I have seen Halloween specials on the Disney Channel that provided with better suspense, than the second half of this drama.  And considering what a great concept they had to work with, it is just a crying shame.
#3 Once obsessed with Gap Dong, always obsessed with Gap Dong
Scary Tiger quits the department and has himself transferred to the correctional facilities where he can watch DGD 24/7 and attempt to get him to confess more crimes.  And that is how you become a sad and lonely middle aged man with no one to care for you other than your new BFF Moo Yeom.  At some point, you just got to let it go.

#4 The only way to get closure is with a confession.
Because the fact that the guy has been convicted and sentenced to die is just not enough.  Unless you know the whys, the whole suffering in prison thing is worthless.  This relates back to the over psychoanalyzing problem the writers suffer from.  I wonder if one of them goes to an intense amount of therapy and is just projecting personal issues onto the plot.  DGD tells Moo Yeom (during yet another attempt to "understand" him) that if he helps DGD commit suicide than he will draw a map showing all the other bodies which are buried.   DGD complies but is given a simple vitamin since at least DGD can't escape his punishment that easily.

#5 All killers are not equal
Tae Oh is getting ready to depart but goes to see DGD one last time to gloat.  He reveals that he understands the point behind the game of Rock, Paper, Scissors.  By letting a "captive" go he is able to retreat and pretend to go underground and disappear.  Thereby, he is free to murder in secret as long as his kills are never found, thus giving himself freedom.  DGD tells Tae Oh that there is no stopping, and Tae Oh just smiles and says "maybe".  DGD tries talking his protege into killing him (I thought he was afraid of death?), saying that one of the two of them had to die for things to be complete.  Tae Oh smiles wider and says that there is no way he is going to ruin his freedom for DGD, his ex-god and ex-hero, now that he has surpassed him by using his own brains.  Now DGD is just a loser in prison and Tae Oh is the true Gap Dong.
I would just like to point out how great this scene was.  Letting Lee Joon's on screen charisma come out is what attracted me to the drama in the first place.  However when they stuck him in a supporting role rather than the lead, the drama began to fall apart.  The real Gap Dong was just not as good as the copycat for me.

#6 If you are hot enough, you can be forgiven anything.
Is it just me that thinks it is really really weird that all the characters are acting nonchalant and sorrowful towards Tae Oh?  He did go on a murderous rampage killing 7 innocent women.  He is a psychopath, and yet they all seem to be sorry to see him go and/or for letting him down.   Moo Yeom even calls him a "troublemaker" in a semi-favorable tone.   Dr Maria is even traveling to the US with him to be his therapist, because that just screams common sense.  Just because he has charisma does not make him any less of a killer as DGD, and yet everyone seems ready to cut him some slack.
Oh wait, I guess taunting DGD was not the smartest thing to do since he finds another disciple in prison who just happens to be released, and has him murder poor Tae Oh thereby making sure that he is the one and only Gap Dong.  Dr Maria finds him bleeding out in front of the hospital and stays with him as he slowly dies of his wounds.  Poor Tae Oh, his character will be greatly missed, and I am just thankful that he made it til the end of the drama since his character was the only thing that made this show bearable.  By far the most poignant moment of the episode.
#7 Don't steal other people's sporks.
DGD is feeling quite tough now that he has killed off his copycat and he is the big bad in prison.  He stomps around like he owns the place, that is until he tries to steal another inmates silverware.  The poor inmate who was victimized loses it and stabs DGD in the eye with a spork (I am assuming it was a spork because that is just the funnest word to use and is a greatly unappreciated utensil).  A very undignified end to DGD who we assume eventually dies on death row.
#8 And everyone lives happily ever after
The last bit was pretty boring after the spork incident.  Just assume that everyone got their happy ending.  The drama ends with ditsy girl, Dr Maria, and Moo Yeom visiting the resting place of Tae Oh's ashes.  They send prayers for his soul and wonder if he had truly meant to stop, since this show had not stomped the psychological crap deep enough into the viewers psyche.  But I can forgive them that, since the show is now officially over!!!!!!
My Final Thoughts
I think you all understand my viewpoint about this drama pretty well after reading the last few recaps.  But just to sum it up in as few words as possible.  It had an amazing concept and the writers destroyed it with their psycho babble and bad character development and poorly planned pacing.  Is it worth watching?  Maybe if you don't mind FF some of the more boring filler, but I would only suggest it if you have literally watched almost everything else.  Save yourself the pain and watch something else.
What's next for Kmuse?
I am at an impasse when it comes to which drama I want to recap next.  There are so many options, but until I actually get an impression on the plots and writing styles, I don't want to commit.  My short list is as follows: Trot Lovers, Fated to Love You, Marriage without Love, and a distant 4th The Joseon Gunman (I think this is going to be amazing but I am worried that my recapping style could not do a Sageuk justice.).  Until I decide on my next drama be sure to check out my recaps for "King of High School" which is so far a really well written romantic comedy.

Sincerely,
Kmuse

Witch's Romance Episode 16 (FINALE) - A Seperation and a Wedding

It's official Witch's Romance fans.  We have reached the end of yet another drama and for once it does not disappoint.   It is an episode where happy endings abound and everyone has a nice little moment to finish on.  Also it is no surprise that our OTP (One True Pairing) has gone the distance to achieve their happily ever after.  So let's enjoy our last recap with these awesome and heart grabbing characters.

Relationships Before Work
Dong Ha discovers the notice that Ji Yeon has won the "Global Challenge Award, an award given to only two reporters each year and requires a year long exchange with an English newspaper.   Realizing what an honor it is to be selected, he questions Ji Yeon about it, and why she had not told him anything.  She replies that since she was going to turn it down (because of their relationship) she did not feel the need to talk about it, their relationship means everything to her, and she does not want to stress it this early in.  Dong Ha smiles and hugs her tightly, but eventually tells her to take the award.  Their relationship will be able to weather this trial and he will be here when Ji Yeon returns.
I personally am not a fan of time leaps at the end of dramas.  For the most part, including this drama, are unnecessary.  Especially since he is old enough to avoid the pedanoona pitfalls of some noona romances like Flower Boy Ramyun Shop.  Just seems like more filler to finish out the hour.  On an up note, at least the separation is less then six years this time.

Soo Cheol is My Hero
Soo Cheol has been subtly (at least for him) trying to romance mouse girl for a couple episodes now.  However he is outed when Dong Ha catches him and mouse leaving for a "date".  Dong Ha checks out his BFF's outfit and sniffs the air, then asks why he is wearing his hitting on women outfit and cologne.  Then he puts two and two together and  asks him if mouse is the woman?  HEHEHE  It is so cute, and even cuter when mouse finally reciprocates.  Do I wish he had hooked up with a character with more personality?  Yes.  But at least he has enough charisma for the both of them.
Fast Forward A Year
It has been a year since the parting, during which Dong Ha has been obsessed with his school work and missing his girlfriend.  Soo Cheol is feeling the need to hang out with his BFF and also requires his presence as a chaperon so that he can take an overnight vacation with his mousie girlfriend.  Dong Ha agrees but is obviously a damper on the couples romantic date.   (At least we have Soo Cheol couple to alleviate the moping while Ji Yeon is away in England and I now want to go buy my husband and I matching orange tennis shoes.  So cute!).

Separation has aged our poor Dong Ha, he is not the shining boy of his youth.  It is credit to Park Seo Joon's acting skills that he can manage to look so worn out yet still handsome all at the same time.   He is definitely a downer for the romantic lovebirds who are in full couple mode.  Dong Ha spends the whole time worrying over his lack of returned phone calls from Ji Yeon.
Surprise! I Love You!
Dong Ha returns to his room early to sit and brood, but instead of an empty room, he finds Ji Yeon waiting with candles and champagne.  I love how Dong Ha is so happy to see her and his eyes tear up a bit.  Then before he can say anything, Ji Yeon pipes in that she needs to speak first and tells him that she loves him.  She explains that this is the first time she has said it first since they have been together, and he needed to hear it from her.  Definitely a wonderful reunion moment by any standards.
This Show is Such a Tease
Come on, you knew the second the writers started spazzing out the cutesy wedding gift shopping scenes that chances were high that it was not Dong Ha's and Ji Yeon's wedding we were watching preparations for (although the PDA moment on the bed was adorable).  I could almost hear the snickering of the writers and shouts of gotcha ringing through the air, as the marriage momma and president ended up being the ones married.  It was a beautiful closing scene in which we saw all the coworkers and then some paired up into blissfully happy couples.  Although I felt bad for her cameraman, who was the only one alone.  I guess someone had to take a photo of all the happy couples.  Let's just consider this drama the equivalent of a present tied up in a shiny red ribbon, nothing and no one were left sad or upset.
He Even Sings!!!
So due to an awesome friend who loves Yoon Hyun Min as much as I do (quick shout out to Mary Joy Lee in case you are reading) I discovered that he actually began his acting career doing musicals.  There are even several clips on YouTube of plays that he was involved in.  I personally am very impressed with his diverse talent.  And if you want to learn a little more about Yoon Hyun Min and his rise as an actor, then check out his interview about his life and career on our FB page (link at the end of the post).  He is a fascinating and eloquent speaker and I can not wait to watch his next drama.
A Forever Love
I am actually a fan of the little bit of an open ending in regards to this drama.  Ji Yeon was always about more than just a girl obsessed with getting a ring on her finger and just like her character, her relationship has many layers.  Considering Dong Ha's age and extended schooling, I think they made the right choice in not rushing into anything.  The only thing I wonder is on their decision to wait another 7 years.  Personally there is no way i would want to start a family when I am 46.  I am already the mother of three beautiful children which I had all in my twenties, and the idea of being pregnant even in my thirties is terrifying.  I don't care how in shape you are, by then you just get to a whole different level of tired.  But kudos on them for not being forced into a marriage by societies standards.  And when it comes to Kdrama noona romances, it is all about defying societies traditions.
Which is Better?
I was asked a question (by my awesome kbestie and spellchecker, Angela) which was better?  "Witch's Romance", or the original drama "My Queen"?  I have to admit that I really enjoyed both, but when it comes down to it, My Queen was just so so so so very long.  At 21 episodes it really started dragging.  Just imagine it, at least 4 more episodes of Polar Bear couple to sit through, although I will say that My Queen did make you care more about their Polar Bear version.  There was a bit more depth to the plot line which was missing in its Kdrama counterpart.  I think that might be what made our Polar Bear so unbearable.  There just was no depth to his character and he was very one dimensional.  Also the kdrama's OTP had better chemistry (although I think that Park Seo Joon could have chemistry with a stone) which makes a big difference.  And the nail in the coffin was that this version had Yoon Hyun Min playing the BFF.  The characters role in the Tdrama version was A LOT smaller...... and I do mean a lot.  It is credit to his amazing acting that he was able to take a small part and create a larger than life character.  So by all standards the kdrama remake just edges out the tdrama version.  If you feel the urge to go watch the original, just be prepared to do some FF during some of those filler moments.
So you might be asking yourselves, what is next on the Kmuse recapping schedule?  It just so happens that I am ecstatic to be recapping the drama that is replacing Witch's Romance's which is  Seo In Guk's upcoming drama "High School King".
Judging from the long trailer, it is going to be an epic romantic comedy, full of hijinks and tomfoolery.  Go here http://thecrazyahjummas.blogspot.com/2014/06/7-min-trailer-for-upcoming-drama-high.html to check out the trailer and I hope to see you back for my future recaps.

Pretty Man Finale Part 1&2 - True Love conquers all and a lot of other stuff.

So since these last two episodes seemed to flow together so well I decided that I would just combine them together for one last super blog post to celebrate the ending of my first drama.  Also there were a lot of flashback fillers in both episodes so this way I for sure have enough to comment on.

One last thing before we start, just warning you all that I am totally on a Princess Bride kick tonight.  Don't know why, it cant be explained, but like the Monty Python post in the past it must be worked through so if you see a slight Princess Bride/Pretty Man fusion thing going on well you might have to live with it.  Also if you have no clue what any of these pictures mean you should run to your closest video store and buy Princess Bride right now.  Not Korean, but still one awesome cult classic.

True Love
Finally Mattai accepts his feelings for Bo Tong.  It took us a whole 15 episodes to get to this point and all I can say is THANK GOODNESS THEY ARE FINALLY TOGETHER.  It has felt like forever, and the lack of accidental skinship did not help the situation.  But now we seem to all be on the same page.  Mattai loves Bo Tong, Bo Tong loves Mattai, her family looks like they would totally be on board for a wedding.  So what is the huge problem making their epic love crash and burn???  Why Mattai's evil mother that was spawned in the depths of hell of course.  Unable to bare the fact that he is successful in any way she plots and schemes and comes up with the solution that terrorizing Bo Tong will destroy Mattai and send him running.........or if nothing else make him as alone and miserable as she is.

Hiring of Minions
So mother from hell (aka Evil Witch) has her minions lure Bo Tong to a scary deserted amusement park (because nothing says evil intent like abandoned twirly rides) and locks her in a abandoned warehouse minus her phone.  I don't know if she planned on killing her or not but she was saved by David who got info on her whereabouts.
Unfortunately Mattai was waiting, and once again being stood up (at his favorite restaurant) with ring in pocket and an intent to propose.  Rushing to the ER when he hears what happens he calls bio mom to confirm her involvement at which point she tells him that she detests his very existence and next time it wont be just a warning and that he needs to suffer as she has.  As he finds out the length that bio mom is willing to go he is devastated and is forced to realize that he cant protect her. He struggles inside and stares at Bo Tong in the hospital bed, he reaches to put the engagement ring on her finger but ends up in tears instead as he pulls back.
I actually really loved this scene and thought it was one of the strongest acted scenes of the drama. Jang Keun Suk really nailed it.

Its For Your Own Good
Of course the only thing left to do when you are concerned for the life of the women you love is.........act like a total complete jerk and drive her away.  For her own good of course.  Mattai does it in suburb form as he tells her that he cant have here dragging him down since it is only a matter of time til his mother accepts him.  And when she does there are going to caliber women after him.  And since he does not want to "hurt her" he wants to break up now rather then making it harder later on.  Mattai of course breaks down devastated after she leaves, and Bo Tong pretty much stops all signs of living as she starts living in her bed.

Letting Go is Hard To Do
You might be wondering where David is during all of this emotional hoopla.  He is of course lurking in the wings just hoping that Mattai will be attacked by pirates and he can have Bo Tong all to himself.  I am seriously amazed at how long they took for David to finally recognize that his relationship with Bo Tong did not have a chance of working and he tells her some truths.  That he liked her and named his car after her,  but does she realize that Mattai went one up and named his company that he adores after her?  And not only that but he is protecting her from his mother and that everything that is happening to him (Evil mom had a lot more plots going on during 15 and the beginning of 16 but you will have to just watch to see all that) and that he really loves her very much.
His speech is just what she needs and she runs back to Mattai and both break into tears as they are reunited.  And poor David watches from afar and fakes happy even though his poor little heart is broken.

R.I.P Plastic Wicked Witch: You will not be missed.
Now I know a lot of you are wishing that she had been torn apart by a rodent of unusual size but no, she went to where all kdrama characters that are pointless and need to repent on their bad deeds go, America.  (Does anyone else wonder where all these rich hot Korean's are located here in the states.  They seem to arrive by the boatloads according to dramas but are never actually seen.)  And of course this being based on a Japanese story WHERE EVERYONE  GETS REDEEMED NO MATTER HOW VAPID, PLASTIC, OR EVIL YOU ARE, finds peace and starts a coffee chain in Seattle.

The Evil Queen's Heart melts and She Finally Loves Her Husband
As guessed all of Evil Queens plots are thwarted and she is left furious and angsty.  Which means it is time to see reality and become a nicer person.  I was expecting this whole evil mom redemption thing so it was no real surprise that Mattai eventually comes to an understanding with his bio mom.  Not really a reconnection but more of an acceptance of each others pain and that they both are sorry for what happened to the other but are better off not connected.  I like that rather then let hate lead his actions he wondered what his adopted mom would do in the situation and acted accordingly.  It was surprisingly a very poignant scene which I really enjoyed.
And then the evil queen just kind of deflates.  Has she lost her purpose in life now that she cant be a 100% cold hearted witch.........  I guess so since we find her retired as she finds a new love for her husband and steps down from the company to take care of him in his last years.  And everyone rejoices that she is gone.  Expected, but kind of a sad ending for such a good bad guy.  I wish she could have been evil until the end and had to repent of her sins against humanity in jail.

Glamping Couple
So of course there can not be one sad loose end in this drama because that would just be INCONCEIVABLE......hehehe........ nerd humor.  So we need to get David a soul mate post haste, and what better soul mate then a girl who dresses like Bo Tong 1.0 but loves to Glamp.  Seriously she mentions glamping and it is as if a choir of angels begin to sing Gregorian Chant over David's head.   So for you David lovers out there, you can rest comfortably with the knowledge that he found his own weird lid to his oddly shaped pot.
A Leopard Does Not Change His Spots..........Or Does He?
Mattai splits his companies shares between Bo Tong and David and does not come into the office much.  Instead Bo Tong situates his giant photograph where his chair should be so it is constantly staring out of the office.  HAHAHA  Instead Mattai is at a restaurant which is plastered with advertisements featuring ribs and photos of him.  Bo Tong enters and sees him vogueing in the kitchen's doorway.  I am glad that he did not completely grow up.  It seems that he is determined to work his way up from the bottom, this time without the help of a lot of women..........AWWWWWWWWW  that is all kinds of cuteness..............
He fixes a lettuce wrap for Bo Tong tells her to chew it thoroughly and then she swallows it which makes him stare at her in shock.  Seems he was being all cute and creative by hiding her ring in the lettuce wrap.  She grabs him and drags him to the door saying they have to get to the hospital and get her stomach pumped.  Then just as he starts to get frantic she starts laughing and pulls out the ring which she had slipped out of the lettuce wrap.  He looks at her smiles and then FINALLY we get a kiss.

And as kisses go it actually was better then I expected.  But lets just say it was no top kiss in the history of the world kiss.  It was nothing like some of Jang Keun Suk's past kisses, but since I was expecting a very chaste kiss I was not overly disappointed.  There was something very sweet about how they were smiling as they kissed and I felt it really fit the mood of the couple.
My Thoughts:
As a whole I actually enjoyed this drama. It was slow in spots and there were few surprises but it was all around pretty solid and I would suggest it to other kdrama fans.  It is especially one of those that is great for newbies who have not watched a lot of dramas.  All of the characters for the most part make an impact whether you hate them or love them and the plot is not to difficult to follow.  That being said, i really wish they had left out some of the weekly bimbo's and developed the main OTP a bit better.  I definitely could have used some more random connection/skinship moments that made me feel their chemistry.  Although I feel they were very sweet and good for each other I never had that "they should be together forever and there is no one else for them feeling".  And I hate to admit this, but I was wrong about the whole pass code plot line. I actually really liked that aspect of the story........eventually (although I still don't really get what he received other then realizing he loved Bo Tong).  So my final score for this drama is a 6.5/7.  I would suggest that a person watch it, however I might just skim my favorite moments in the future and never bother to rewatch the whole thing.  I hope you all had fun with me reviewing this drama.  I am not sure when I will have another weekly recap (maybe next week if one of the new dramas really hits my creativity bone) but I will start doing a weekly top 5 moments in kdramas.  This will be my favorite scenes from the currently airing dramas that I am watching so you can get a feel for a wide range of dramas without me having to review all of them.  Hope you tune in and my first weekly top 5 should be up tomorrow night.

Until then, sleep well and continue watching
Sincerely,
Kmuse

PS. This is just because it is funny and I didn't really have anywhere else to stick it in.  HEHE  Love this quote from Princess Bride!
