Upcoming tvN drama, "Cheese in the Trap", based on the popular webtoon of the same name, has nailed down their lead actress for the role of Hong Seol - Kim Go Eun.
This casting has been a long time coming. We first mentioned the casting of the male lead, Park Hae Jin, back in May. Now here we are, end of July and finally getting the female counterpart to our lonely male. I wonder if the poor boy was getting a complex being all alone in the cast for so long?
Kim Go Eun is new to the world of dramas, with this being her first debut on the small screen, but is not new to acting. She has 7 movies under her belt (like 2013's Monster) as well as some "Best New Actress" awards earned for her portrayal of Han Eun Gyo in the movie Eungyo (2011). So this looks to be promising. A talented young actress making her first drama appearance, starring opposite Park Hae Jin as Yoo Jung.
Ms. Kim was originally offered the role (after Bae Suzy turned it down), but declined the offer due to scheduling conflicts (is it ever anything else?). A few 'love calls' from the director - and a shifting of the shooting schedule around in order to accommodate her - later, and she has accepted the job. Apparently she is a fan of the character she will be playing which also helped in securing her spot on the cast. Whatever her reasons for initially declining and finally accepting, we're just glad our cheese now has his lady love. Or maybe she's the cheese? Or maybe no one is the cheese? I don't know. Honestly, I tried reading the webtoon and didn't get far enough to be able to tell you who or what the cheese is and what trap it is in. But you know what I mean. I hope.
So, YAY for casting the role! I look forward to getting to know this actress better.
And maybe, just maybe, figuring out who/what this cheese is.
Cheese in the Trap is set to air Mon/Tues on tvN sometime beginning in Mid-October.
Maybe, Hong Seol is the cheese and she's totally trapped with Yoo Jung. Btw, she's so cute and natural in that drama.
