Humorous 2nd Teaser Released for Upcoming Weekend Drama "My Daughter, Geum Sa Wol"

I am just going to have to bite the proverbial bullet and plan on watching this drama.  Yoon Hyun Min is just stealing my heart, even in teaser form.  I am sure this will be a lot more angsty than it is being promoted as, but that is just the way the drama cookie crumbles.

Falling For Innocence Review: Two Ahjummas Descent into Sub Stalking

For those of you who have followed us, here at The Crazy Ahjummas, you know that usually we have recaps going nonstop.  So it is a bit of a shock as we enter our forth week, minus recaps.  For those of you wondering, we are not stopping our recapping part of the drama, but are merely waiting for "the one".  Or pretty much anything that is going to be subbed quickly (you are getting nasty glares from me Let's Eat 2) and doesn't completely suck. I think a bit of the problem is also that we are gun shy after the whole Jekyll and Hyde fiasco.  But never fear, Dongsaeng and I have decided that we will be co-capping the upcoming drama "Producer" and probably each doing a side project as well (eyeballing Warm and Cozy or Orange Marmalade on my part).  So there will be a ton of quirky posts coming your way mid May.

3 New Teasers for upcoming kdrama "Falling For Innocence"

We are still a few weeks shy of the premier of "Falling for Innocence" starring Jung Kyung Ho (Cruel City) and Kim So Yun (I Need Romance 3) and we can't forget 2nd lead funnyman Yoon Hyun Min (Cruel City, Witch's Romance).  I am so excited for this cast that I can barely type straight.

Kmuse's End of Year Countdown - Best Secondary Characters of 2014

Have you ever gone into a drama and instead of liking the main couple or lead actors, you instead fall in love with one of the supporting characters?  Come on, admit it, it is impossible to not have those warm fuzzy feelings for some of the side characters.  They might have only been on screen a small portion of the drama but your heart and soul are caught and you begin to wish that they were the leads.  I personally am a total sucker for a good actor, especially when they are paired with a good character so here are my top characters/actors that I wish would star in their own dramas.

I decided to switch things up this week.  So instead of telling you my favorite kdrama moments, I am instead going to discuss what is currently annoying me.  Because sometimes a blogger just needs to vent.  So please join me in discussing what moments just irked me to the point of ranting.  If you have any that I missed, feel free to share in the comment section, or on our Facebook page.  After all, misery loves company.

Witch's Romance Episode 3 - Everythings coming up Yoon Dong Ha

Witch's Romance continues to run away with my heart as we finally get to see what happens when Ban Ji Yeon does the unthinkable and kicks out the delicious Dong Ha from her bed.   SERIOUSLY!  WHO DOES THAT?   But never fear, Yoon Dong Ha is not your normal younger man in a noona drama.  He is the super cute puppy like hunky man all around white knight and can overcome cranky noonas.  He is also 100% what makes this drama work.  I think if it had a different leading man it would not have clicked with me the way it is now.  So that is why we are going to do a Dong Ha centric recap today, because I personally can not get enough of his adorable cuteness.

So back to the beginning, our cute Dong Ha is half naked and lying on the floor with a confused look on his face.  The poor boy is then promptly kicked out the door, still wondering what just happened and why this lady is screeching about an age difference.  Wouldn't the normal reaction be "sweet I look young enough to score with a younger man?"  But no, the poor sexually frustrated boy must go home (across the walkway... hehehehe..... can't wait for this to become common knowledge) and go from confusion to smacking his head as he wonders what he was thinking.  I love when he mutters to himself  "Why does she have to live next door?  Lets stop getting tangled please."  She is in her apartment also muttering to herself that she is so lucky that Seoul is such a big city and they shouldn't have to ever meet again.  LOL  There is fate out to get them again.

But everything is not all flowers and sausages the next morning when the part time guys wake up to find that they have been a victim of a vicious article in "Troublemaker".  It seems that even though he provided a refund to the Evil Coworker Trio, they did not let it go and wrote a scathing article on what a scam their fix it company was.  All of the odd job appointments were cancelled and a bunch of negative comments froze their web page. (YAY for a scene with BFF Hottie!!!!)

Enraged and full of rightful indignation, Dong Ha storms the newsroom and begins to berate the inept trio.  (I love that he is not a weakling and goes to confront the problem right on.)  They wonder why he is here and how he is connected to the "witch".  And then ask in disbelief, "did she hire you?" and her injured assistant comments "as expected, Senior Ji Yeon is a step ahead of everyone."  However he tells them that he was disgusted with their immature behavior and stepped in to stop it.  Who knows how long the argument would have gone on, if not for Ji Yeon arriving.........and freaking out when she sees Dong Ha.  Dragging him in the hallway she begins interrogating him as to why he is here.  When he replies "because of yesterday" (meaning the article against his business) she misunderstands and keeps slapping her hand over his mouth afraid that he was going to spill the "almost sex" beans. 

The situation is in mid resolve (the president of the magazine had to get involved) when Ji Yeon receives a brightly wrapped package.  However our white knight Dong Ha notices blood is beginning to drip from the bottom of the box.  (EWWWWWWWW!!!!  That is so gross and I was totally expecting there to be a dead rat or something in the box.  It turns out to be a bird?  Huh?  Why a bird?)  Faking a calm veneer, Ji Yeon makes it into the bathroom before freaking out in private.  Dong Ha in the meantime is negotiating with "Trouble Makers" president so he can not only be recompensed for the damage done by the magazine, but also be able to protect Ji Yeon from further harassment.  He is now the official assistant to star reporter Ji Yeon (at least for three months).

Ji Yeon immediately begins laying down the law and threatening Dong Ha with the possibility of being fired.  He has to talk to her in a certain way, but not unless she gives him permission to ask questions.  And above all else he must forget that anything sexual ever happened between them or else he is fired.  I love how he just humors her and I always feel like he is on the edge of patting her on the head.

Taking his new boss to her home (he is such a cute little bodyguard/assistant) Dong Ha continues to follow her until she starts yelling at him to go home.  The time finally arrives where he tells her that he is home since he lives next door, and it is hilarious.  Ji-Yeon instantly goes into conspiracy mode and figures that Dong Ha is a super efficient stalker who had managed to get them to meet over and over.  Dong Ha just rolls his eyes and closes his door in her face.

She enters her own house and starts her nightly loud music/dancing routine, but realizes half way through that her nosy neighbor hottie can probably hear everything she is doing. HAHAHA  It just so happens that Dong Ha is smiling and tapping his foot along with the music, commenting to himself about her cute habits.  But when she turns off the music mid song he begins to worry and rushes over to the rescue.  Ji Yeon  again accuses him of being a stalker but is caught off guard when he yells that he was worried about her.  Glancing down and seeing that he was in such a rush that he put on two different shoes she forgives him.  And since she is a little unsettled and jumpy from the experience it would be all right if Dong Ha hung out for a while.

Ji Yeon offers her savior a beer but quickly recants with an awkward look.  Instead they decide to watch TV, but instead of something bright and entertaining, a steamy make out scene is playing.  HAHAHA  So what do two almost lovers  do when everything seems to be a reference to their previous evening.  They listen to the radio of course.  And we viewers are highly entertained by an impromptu competition between the two over the quiz show they are listening to.  I love that both are so competitive and that they can still enjoy the competitive nature of each other.  One thing leads to another til they begin discussing music and finds out that Dong Ha does not know any of the songs from Ji Yeon's youth.  Luckily this possible disaster age gap moment is overcome when they realize they both like a common song (one that had played when she was young, but had a remake version by Big Bang).  They finish off the night singing it together, with Dong Ha adding in the Big Bang rap chorus.  It truly was a cute scene to show that they can overcome the age gap if they work at it.

They are suddenly woken the next morning by Ji Yeon's mother banging on her door.  Dong Ha is thrown into the closet to hide and a flustered Ji Yeon opens the door.  Her mother is as funny as ever, as she informs her daughter that she had signed Ji Yeon up for a dating service.  I love that mom was insistent that it had to be now since if it was after Ji Yeon turned 40 it would cost more.  Hehehe.  I guess avoiding blind dates was more important then a moment of embarrassment since Ji Yeon promptly dragged Dong Ha out of the closet and claimed him as her boyfriend.  Her marriage obsessed mother was so happy and already calling Dong Ha "son-in-law" (and probably picking out the wedding venue.)  Dong Ha goes along with it but you can tell there is going to be some reckoning later on.  He politely says his farewells (cute bed head and all) and takes himself and his mismatched shoes home.  This was such a cute scene and hopefully is a set up for some really funny moments in the future.

Just when you think everything is good and it is safe to be home, the real stalker/thug returns.  This time in her actual house (I would just like to tell all you female readers out there, if your door is open and someone is stalking you, DO NOT GO INSIDE YOUR HOUSE!!!!!!!!!) where she finds everything destroyed and a blood covered nightgown hanging up with an ax through it.  Unfortunately for our heroine, the thug is still in the house and breaks through a window pain and chokes her.  Our white night hottie arrives just in time to scare him off and save Ji Yeon, but talk about a terrifying experience.  Dong Ha rushes her to the hospital and we see Ji Yeon drifting in and out of consciousness.  She reflects on her past heartache and relationship and then wonders if she is brave enough to try again as her gaze focuses in on Dong Ha.

My Thoughts:
I think we still are going to have a long wait before these two  officially hook up, no matter how many times he saves her.  She seems to be very stubborn so I am sure it is going to be an uphill battle.  But that is fine by me as long as the show continues to bring us these super cute and funny moments between the OTP.  I am not looking forward to the return of the ex-boyfriend.  What he did was pretty despicable and I am not sure if there is any excuse that can actually make me accept him as a possible significant other again.  I guess we will learn more in the next episode.

Witch's Romance Episode 2 - Fate Can Be A Major Witch

One of my favorite things about kdramas is that once fate gets involved in a relationship it is all over.  No manner of obstacle be it personality differences, financial status, or age is going to get in the way of true love.  We see that in abundance in episode 2 of Witch's Romance as our cute OTP (kdrama term meaning "one true pairing") are thrown together over and over resulting in a super steaming make out scene!  But before we get to the good stuff lets go back to the beginning and discuss some of my favorite fate driven scenes (and a few that are not fueled by fate but just plain funny since this episode had me in stitches.)

A Fateful First Kiss

So what are the odds that our leading lady is being scammed by our leading man's hot BFF?  When fate is involved it is pretty much a 100% guarantee.  Left up on a stage after having Soo Chul (BFF Hottie) mock her (remember he was hired by her evil coworkers) our white knight Dong Ha walks up, grabs her in his arms, and kisses Ji Yeon..........intently............seriously people this is a good kiss.  

She just goes along with the kiss as she analyzes the situation in her head.  I love that her conclusion is that this doesn't feel all that bad.  HEHE.  They walk through the crowd with heads held high and out the door.  Where she turns on him and asks him what the heck he was thinking.  She didn't need saving because if he had not been there she would have exited with dignity regardless.  He just calls her ungrateful and asks her if she did not realize that her coworkers had set her up to be embarrassed.  At first she does not believe him, but finally sees the truth.  He wonders why she can be so hated by everyone and does she even have any friends.

Humor Break

If you thought you were not going to get any recap of our resident bias, Yoon Hyun Mi, due to lack of fateful scenes then you are greatly mistaken.  No recap of mine will be complete without at least one picture of our BFF Hottie.  Seriously even if he does not appear in an episode there is a good chance I will just pop in a collage of his best photos, just because.  

Luckily for us Ji Yeon is not the type of person to let things go.  Right before she walks out of the club she goes up to Soo Chul and tells him that her life's creed is always get revenge.  She then tells him that he looks like 30 min steamed spinach..... bread that has 3 mth old mold on it... and the thing you spit out from cucumber kimchi.  Hahahaha is expression of horror is hilarious and I love how he turns into a scolded schoolboy in the face of her wrath.

Fated Friends

Ji Yeon is on a quest to prove Dong Ha wrong.  He accused her of having no friends which got her hackles up.  She holds up her phone and exclaims that it has hundreds of numbers on it.  Dong Ha smirks and tells her to prove it.  With a panicked look on her face she starts to call her "friends" which turns into a futile endeavor as she realizes that she has burned a lot of bridges.  She finally calls her mom, and fakes talking to a real friend, but Dong Ha is not impressed (Can I just say that his smirks and looks of disbelief are all adorable.)  In defeat Ji Yeon looks at a name in her phone listed as "traitor".  With a deep breath she grabs our cutie's hand and says that she will prove that she has a friend.  Fast Forward to a small restaurant where Ji Yeon's one and only friend Baek Na Rae is ecstatic to see her BFF.  Ji Yeon is cold to the reception, commenting that she has turned into a tacky old women in the 6 months she has been married.  It seems that Na Rae eloped in order to avoid her besties anti-marriage sentiments and dislike of her husband to be. 

But there is nothing like yummy food to heal wounds as the foursome end the night joking and laughing.  But all things must end and Dong Ha says goodbye, looking at Ji Yeon he tosses out "if it is fated, lets see each other again".

A Fated Crossing of Paths

Life goes on and our handy man is called to a certain Shaman's business to fix some faulty wiring.  Our quirky shaman knows a hot guy when she sees one and literally attaches herself to Dong Ha's leg as he works.  You have to wonder how often women attach themselves to him, that he is able to handle this as a normal occurrence.

It just so happens that before he is able to leave, Ji Yeon and her marriage obsessed mother enter into the room.  Ji Yeon's mom was told that if there was any chance of changing her daughters bad fate, she would need to bring her in for an important Shaman ritual.  This "ritual" turns out to be getting hit with a stick forty times to scare away the bad luck.  As you can imagine Ji Yeon is not convinced of the women's powers and threatens to do an exposé on fake charlatans.   This earns her a rap on the knuckles and has the shaman spitting on her in protest.  She says that Ji Yeon is a very unlucky person and will need a lot of beatings to make her better.  Ji Yeon's mother begs her daughter to comply so she can grandchildren before she dies.  After the full blown guilt party, a put upon Ji Yeon agrees.  But half way through the Shaman gets a phone call and tells the mother to finish up the beatings and she will be right back.  

She stoically accepts the additional smacks telling her mother to stop worrying and just get it over with, but her worrywart mother moans about her horrible fate and how it is all "that mans" fault for leaving her at the alter.  This all is overheard by our cutie who is hiding behind a side door.  After all the lashes are received our cranky and sore heroine stomps out of the shop grabbing her cell phone at the entrance.  But fate is not letting her go unscathed as she grabs Dong Ha's cell by mistake.

Now Fate is Just Being Mean

Hours later Dong Ha discovers the phone switch kerfuffle and begins hunting down Ji Yeon yet again.  He eventually tracks her down (thanks to her bestie Na Rae's advice) at a local food cart that she likes to get drunk at.  I love how we hear Na Rae bemoan the poor boys fate as she explains to her husband that Ji Yeon has a little habit that comes out when she is drunk.  She expounds that Ji Yeon has never been in a relationship that did not start with her being drunk.  HAHAHA.  Na Rae then explains that somehow her friend seduces them with her drunken crazy persona which always ends in a kiss and at that is how she hooks men.  As Na Rae is narrating we see Ji Yeon compliment herself in front of traffic mirrors, fight with banners, and order Dong Ha into her house to have another drink.  The drunken crazy is obviously in full swing.

Our poor boy did not have a chance since she pretty much assaults him with her mouth.  But after a second he is fully involved and they move it to the bedroom.  I will let you all see the next parts via pictures since they truly do the scene better justice then my prose can.

Seriously when you have this much contact with one person you should just accept that they are going to be "the one" and get it all over with.  But nope, our romantic leads continue to deny fate and our drunken leading lady kicks our sexy lead out of bed.  LITERALLY!  

Why you ask?  Is he a bad kisser?  Does she need to run to the restroom and throw up because she over imbibed?  Nope, Ji Yeon actually sees his license mid kiss and notices that he is 14 years younger then she is.  

While he still continues making his move, she does the math and realizes that he would have just been born when she was in middle school (GASP).  When he was ten she would have already had a job and earned her first paycheck, when she was thirty he would have been....................Switch to imaginary scene where Ji Yeon is on trial for seducing a minor.  She trys to explain to the judge that they love each other while being tsked at by her coworkers and mother.  She looks over at the defence and a goofy prepubescent Dong Ha gives her a dorky smile and says "noona".  HAHAHAHAHA  I could not stop laughing at this scene.  She freaks and kicks him off of the bed and he of course is clueless as to what just happened.

My Thoughts:
I am one of those people that is a sucker for a truly funny drama and this episode had me laughing from start to finish.  Ji Yeon prideful pushiness is the perfect foil for Dong Ha's good natured personality.  It is also nice that although Dong Ha is a nice person, he is in no way a pushover.  He is vocal and will not lose an argument if he is in the right.  This is a change from a lot of other noona romances where the men tend to let the older women lead things and tell them what to do.  Dong Ha on the other hand is a man who obviously knows what he likes and is not inexperienced in life or love.  I feel that this couple comes across more as equals, which is not something that can be said with every noona romance.  My only complaint over the setup is that he actually does look the age he is supposed to be in the drama.  I don't understand how she could be around him for several days and not have it register that he is younger then she is.  It seems like something that should have crossed her mind way before mid-sex.  Also what warmblooded women is going to kick that out of her bed.  I have quite a few friends that would probably like to slap the back of her head for giving up such a wonderful opportunity.

I am unsure if Gap Dong will be aired as scheduled due to the ship disaster which is ongoing.  So I will shuffle blog posts around to work with whatever happens.  Our prayers go out to the family and friends of all those that have been lost in this tragic event.

Top 5 Kdrama Countdown : January Week 4

 This week's top five was actually hard to put together.  Due to the lunar holiday a bunch of episodes were preempted and if you add on my suddenly unexpected marathon of Prince Lan Ling (I seriously lost 10 straight hours of my life to that drama when I was just going to try one episode) it took some searching to decide on my countdown.  But luckily we also had some great scenes and things that I love and also a character that I love to hate so we are back on track and I am happy with this weeks top 5. 

#5 Yoon Hyun Min is Back on My TV

The cast of Inspiring Generations is HUGE....  and by huge I mean there are so many characters it took six episodes to introduce everyone properly.  And inside of that huge cast are an insane amount of pretty eye candy.......so much Korean male hotness that anyone could be forgiven if they strained their eyes.

But for me there is one stand out (after Kim Hyun Joong) of course and that is Aoki also known as evil grandpa's adopted son played by Yoon Hyun Min (Heartless City - He was also on my list of favorite breakout actors of 2013).  Yoon Hyun Min jumps off the screen with charisma and plays his character with all the charm and strength of his previous role in Heartless City.  And yes, I know I am totally biased since I loved that show, but he is just all kinds of awesome and I cant wait to see more of him and his cunning strategies in Inspiring Generation (and lets just admit that seeing him shirtless and fighting with swords doesn't hurt at all either).

 #4 How to Spot a Korean Serial Killer

For those of you who are new to Korean Dramas, I am going to give you tips on how to spot the bad guy.  This lesson is curtsy of Let's Eat episode 10 and our number four spot on the countdown.

Step 1 - There will always be ominous music......followed by the arrival of the "bad" guy.  If you are having problems visualizing this then think the music from jaws.

Step 2 - He will always be wearing a black hat and usually dark colored clothes, and if he is wearing a black mask (like those that you use for a cold) then just accept that you are going to die.

Step 3 - In the case of being on an elevator with before stated serial killer he will be going to the same floor as you and of course follow you in a slow pace in order to increase the fear.  Don't even think of using his slow pace as a way to quickly go into your apartment and lock the doors.  Oh no, use that time to frantically knock on your neighbors doors in the off chance they are not at work.

Step 4 - If Serial Killer Stalker takes off his mask and he is really attractive underneath then breath a sigh of relief.  It is a false alarm since of course a Serial Killer Stalkers could not possibly be cute.  Invite him into your house like nothing is wrong and of course be sure to flirt.

#3 Crying Wolf

My #3 favorite moment is yet again from the end of My Love From Another Star (it has become a permanent spot-holder in my countdown).  Cheon Song-Yi finally finds out the big secret, that Do Min-Joon is a 400 year old alien.  Not that she seems to care that much since she alternately flips back and forth between believing him and on top of that she really is more fixated on whether he likes her or not.  But by the urging of her comic book store owner bestie she decides to test him and his alien powers.  She hikes (in full movie star fashion...including huge heals) to the top of a mountain and starts screaming that she is in danger and to come save her.  LOL  Everyone just looks at her like she is crazy and the only response she receives is some cawing from a crow.   However at the end we see that Do Min-Joon did indeed come to her rescue he is just behind the bolder and is cranky that she called him up when she is not in danger he turns away grumbling to himself “She can’t just call me anytime! She scared me!” .

#2 Backstabbing BFF

Kim Sun Mi is one of those characters that I love to LOATH.... for those of you wondering, loath is above hate in my mind.  She not only realizes that her best friend is falling in love with the adorable and wonderful Director Oh, but she realizes that he is loving her back.  Now most people would totally be happy (even if they are a tad bit jealous) for their friend and back off.  But not Kim Sun Mi.  I am not sure if she is just delusional in her idea that if she tries long enough she can win/trick him into dating her.  Or if she just cant stand to see someone else get what she wants.  But regardless she sits her BFF Jung Wan down and informs her that not only do they like the same man but that she slept with him (I don't think they really slept with each other because he is was super drunk and she is a lying succubus) and he ditched her to run after Jung Wan.  And then went on to tell Jung Wan to please back away since she feels this is her last chance at a happy marriage (again how she went from him telling her to back off to marriage is beyond me).  The worse thing is that most of what she said was actually trueish but situated it in a way that made it impossible for Jung Wan to say she likes him since that would make her the bad guy.  Kudos on the writers of this show for making me hate one of their characters so much.  I personally hope that she ends up alone with her creepy dog since right now she does not deserve to be happy at the expense of so many of the people around her.

I Wish Someone Would Slap Her Clip

#1 Revenge is Better Then Love

 It is well known that I was not a huge fan of the whole lovey dovey Seung Nyang.  Especially when she was put into the position where she was letting the King and Emperor go around trying to make all the decisions for her.  So it was a HUGE relief when Nyang came back to the palace with a new kick butt attitude and plans to destroy pretty much everyone (minus the Emperor).   Instead of going back to the safety that the King represented she dove back into the lion's den and now is an official courtesan of the king.  She is also mounting a battle for control of the inner palace against the evil empress and her minions which makes me so happy.  I much prefer this version of her (even if she is not romantic with the emperor beyond using him to get power) then the mooning girl she was.  And we get the added benefit of seeing the bad guys get their comeuppance they so rightly deserve.  And that is why revenge driven Nyang deserves the top spot of the week since scene after scene she stole the show and moved the whole drama into a whole other direction.
