{Monday Morning Therapy with Dongsaeng} What's Snew with You?

Good Monday morning AddiKts!  Or whatever time of or day it may be for you in your part of the world.  I hope your weekends were all fabulous and drama filled!  My weekend was fine, but not drama filled. No, I am sad to announce that I have not as yet had the privilege of watching the finales of Dr Jin or A Gentleman's Dignity.  Nor have I caught the first episode of my new drama, Faith.  It was a busy weekend spent with my family so I can't complain, but I definitely am ready to make my Monday drama filled to make up for the weekend's dry spell.

I don't have a specific topic that I want to focus on today.  I am experiencing writing ADD where my thoughts are all over the place.  There are so many directions I could go.  There were a couple of headlining accidents in Korea this weekend, one resulting in the tragic loss of an actor.  Seung Gyu was killed while riding his motorcycle on Aug 11th.  Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family and friends at this time.  Then on Aug 13th, T-ara's Soyeon was involved in a rollover accident while enroute to filming for her current drama, Haeundae Lovers.  T-ara has been embroiled in a "scandal" (I use that term lightly for I feel it is far overused, at least in my jaded American viewpoint) as of late regarding the dismissal of one of its members, Hwayoung.  A "scandal" I certainly won't be weighing in on, mostly because I haven't been following it because I honestly don't give a rat's patootey about it.  But no matter how you feel on the whole situation, I'm sure we can all agree that an accident involving anyone is unfortunate and we wish Soyeon and her crew a speedy recovery.

Okay, now that that unpleasantness is addressed, what else should we talk about to help banish our Monday blues?

Psy continues to make headlines in his popularity.  Did you hear that he is apparently in talks with Justin Bieber's people?  I have mixed feelings on that.  I'm happy for him for getting the recognition outside of the normal sphere, yet Psy is such a treasure that I'd hate to see tarnished by becoming too global.  Or mainstream.  I have always adored his quirkiness and just would hate to see that be altered in anyway.  Justin Bieber and rising stardom aside, we can look forward to a new version of Gangnam Style this week.  I guess it's called something like, "Oppa, You're My Style" and is from the woman's (in this case, HyunA's) perspective.  I look forward to seeing it.

Also coming out this week will be Xia Junsu's new English single, "Uncommitted" which was shot in LA.  I have a personal connection to this song as I also happened to be in California at the same time Junsu was.  I could just feel his presence there.  I could sense that we were sharing the same soil.  Junsu and I, we're tight like that you know.  ;)  Here is the first teaser, with another to be following on the 15th, and finally, the actual song on the 17th.  I know I speak for us both when I say that Unnie and I are eagerly awaiting the full version and will be enjoying the teasers until then.

You may or may not have heard that Super Junior has once again graced us with another new video, Spy.  I'm just going to tell you right off the bat that I don't particularly care for it.  I really truly want to like SuJu.  I mean, their freaking Super Junior after all.  They're huge.  They were my first Pandora station back when I couldn't find any other KPop artists on Pandora, you know, back in the dark ages.  Oh, those were dark days indeed.  A newfound addiKtion and a new world I was trying to learn about - the world of KPop - but had little knowledge about and no one (besides the ever intrepid Unnie who was just as new to it as I was) to learn from.  I was in desperate search for a source that would just pour out song after song, artist after artist, so that I could absorb and learn as much as humanly possible.  YouTube is great...if you know who/what you're looking for, but that empty search box is quite frustrating and daunting if you don't even know where to start.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Am I just weird?  Anyway, I was lost in a sea of "I don't even know where to start" when I stumbled upon the Super Junior station on Pandora.  They were like this beacon of light steering me safely towards the KPop shore and will forever hold a special place in my heart.  KPop Lost Soul Deliverers?  Yes.  But spies?  They are not.  Just as they once helped me through a dark time though, I will stay true and look forward to future offerings.  If you haven't seen it yet, here's Spy.  Watch it and see what you think.  Like it?  Love it?  Indifferent?  Hate it?  What's your take?

I should probably also address what I'm going to call AbsGate 2012.  I did my Dr Jin review on Friday and the whole focus and star of the show was JaeJoong and his yummy abs in a certain scene.  Only, once it was posted, I came to discover that they were fake.  Yes, he was apparently wearing a fake torso - you know, because he wasn't actually shot with an arrow.  Now, I have to admit, there was that part of me that from the beginning wondered about the authenticity of those caramel abs, but I was so clouded by my Inner Fangirling that I let it slide.  I chose to believe that they were real because I so badly wanted them to be.  Now in the light of day, and once those crazy hormones that had kicked into overdrive subsided (seriously, you should have seen me on Friday, pinning like a madwoman on my JYJ Pinterest board every delectable JaeJoong picture I could find, even if they were ones I already had - I just couldn't get enough Jae), it has become very obvious to me that yes, of course they're fake.  I stand by my claim though made on the edit to the post that it was easy to fall for because I've seen the real things and know that they're not that far off.  It was easy to believe that he had pumped up a little for the show.  So, I have put a correction in on the original post, but figured it would most likely not be seen by most people, so I'm including it here as well.  I can't have everyone thinking that I'm completely deluded, just temporarily at times.  Like when my bias is flashing his bare chest.  Can anyone of us claim sanity in that moment?  I think not.

And with that, I will close my Monday morning Knews brief disguised as Monday Morning Therapy session.  And because I couldn't get enough of it myself, I will include one more mini clip as your final prescription for the day.  Sometimes those tiny ones can pack quite the punch, so don't mistake its size for weakness.  Not that I'm biased (hint: it's a video with my bias - I told you, I was on a mad JaeJoong spree this weekend - I'm fangirling all over the place - someone get a mop. Um, ew?  A step too far? o_O).  I hope that you all have a wonderful day and a great week.  I look forward to jumping in to new dramas this week!  Lee Min Ho's Faith and To the Beautiful You are the two I most look forward to.  You?  What will you be watching?  No matter what, it's shaping up to be a good week for us addiKts around the world!

  1. I just feel so much pain for Seung Gyu's family & friends. I can't imagine how much they are suffering right now & so I send my prayers for them all, to feel the love of those around them; as well as sending my wishes for a fast & healthy recovery for Soyeon. What a sad weekend it was in our wonderful K World. I wish them & all their fans peace.

As for the whispered Psy/ Biebs company hookup? I think Psy should pass. It's a huge opportunity....for the Bieb's company. And while I worry Psy would allow them to try & change them, at the same time I don't think he would. He's Psy! Psy is his own person. It's what makes him so flipping awesome!! I love his unique & innate talent & ability to set himself apart from the cookie cutter machine that the entertainment world, especially the K entertainment world, can all too often, become. So, as much as I think the entire world should know & celebrate the awesomeness that Psy is I hope they realize that he shouldn't be shoved into a cookie cutter mold to become what they want.

And you already know how much I am looking forward to Xiah's newest MV...because we just talked on the phone. I will keep that spazzed out insane fangirl that you had to laugh at, so hard on the phone, out of this comment. I don't want to scare our readers any more than I already have (do). :) But AddiKts it was only 20 seconds long & all he did was stare into the camera & I needed a glass of ice water. That's all I'm saying.

As for SuJu's new MV, Spy? Oh boy. Yeah I'm not feeling it either. They all looked so cute & debonair in their James Bond inspired suits. But... you knew that was coming, right? BUT ooh the intro music, that replayed a couple times & that awful chorus ruined it for me. And the dance was not all that. Those weird, lame, poses of them pretending to shoot? Laughable. Oh SuJu! I stuck with you through Sexy, Free & Single (& ready to Bingo!) I thought that song was catchy & fun & awesome & bought it on iTunes. But this one I will NOT be purchasing. This one was a mess & I was so excited about it too. I am a SuJu fan! Like Dongsaeng you were one of the first KPop artists to pull me in & hook me, with your good looks, you awesome dancing, your singing. I heart you! Chincha! But oh this one I cannot support. Wae SuJu?!?! WAE???? Please step outside of your box & come back even more awesome?!?! I am begging you! Be the best SuJu I know you can be! Please??? Please don't send me hate mail AddiKts. I do LOVE SuJu. In fact, Leeteuk is another favorite of mine. So yummy! O_o

Dongsaeng that yummy Jaejoong video? THANK YOU!! My FAVORITE VIDEO OF HIM!!! I know he is your bias but oh that is some yummy yummy kissing right there. So thank you for sharing him with us. YUH-UHM!!
