Unnie's Wednesday Write Up: One of Those Days

I know I am not the only one on this wide beautiful planet to have "one of those days".  I blame it on the end of summer blahs that are setting in, here in Wisconsin.  When I lived in AZ, I LOVED winter.  Couldn't get enough in fact.  Hated summer, dreaded it.  And would almost always go crazy come October when it was still in the 90s.  I was ready for fall by October but fall was not ready to arrive in AZ.  Oh I drove my husband batty about it, "This isn't fall!  Fall is crisp air & cooler temps & falling leaves!"  Bless his poor heart, I was a huge whiner.  So when he was offered a job in Wisconsin I was ready for the change.  But having spent a predominant amount of my life in a warm, super sunny, climate has made my transition to colder, wintry, snowy, icy, gray days a little bumpier than I expected.  Don't get me wrong, Fall is AH-MAZING here.  So beautiful!  But fall is then followed by 6 months of miserably cold temperatures, Snow up to your waist, Ice, and more gloomy, gray, cloudy days than this So Cal chick can handle & I discovered I suffer from seasonal depression because of this winter climate.  This last winter here was hard, as it seemed to go on forever still getting snow storms in mid to late April.  I spent most of last winter begging my husband to look for a job back in AZ.  Yep that was me, a complete 180 on my previous viewpoint about AZ.  Again I say my husband is a saint.

I couple this 'blah feeling', on the fact that today, my eldest, child went to his high school freshman orientation.  Tomorrow there is a freshman cook out & dance in the evening.  His first high school dance.  As he left this morning, I felt conflicted.  I was so happy for him.  Yet so sad for me.  First, he's not my baby anymore and he was sincerely such a cute baby.  Yes, all mom's think their baby is the cutest & the best.  Second, it also means I am the mother of a high school kid, which makes me feel old, boring, useless & really quite unattractive.  I picked the wrong addiKtion.  I picked an addiKtion that focuses on being young & perfect & beautiful.  None of these things can be used to describe myself.  Normally, I still feel like I am in my early 20s.  I don't look like I am but I feel like it.  Today, for really the first official time, I actually feel like an ahjumma.  Which has its perks, apparently on a city bus or subway in Seoul, I can be as loud & obnoxious as I want, because I am an ahjumma.  So there's that.  kekekeke...

While today has not been a bad day per se, it has been one of those days where I feel blah.  Darn you end of summer, oncoming winter & darn you to kids getting older ergo making their parents feel their age!  I spent the morning watching Barefoot Friends & getting my KHJ fix, which again as an ahjumma today I feel very weird liking a man 10 years younger than me.  And I feel like I should apologize to KHJ for creeping him out. LOL  The good thing is I picked a bias that doesn't really pay attention to the virtual world very often so woohoo he has no clue a pervy old lady drools over him.  ^^  That helps my ego some.

But there are good things about being in the place I am age wise.  I am past the diaper era, the potty training era, the having to sit & watch the many, many repetitive kid shows era.  I can wear jewelry without worrying about them breaking it with little hands, that pull and tug, with the force of a sumo wrestler.  My kids can dress & feed themselves, are perfectly content entertaining themselves, help clean up the house, & don't need to be constantly watched anymore.  In short I can stop stalking them.  Plus, my kids will all head back to school in a couple of weeks & I will get the house to myself again, at least for most of the day.  Looking forward to peace & quiet throughout the house again.

To help cheer myself up from the 'blahs' I gave myself a treat on my Jess Unnie Profile on FB.  A thread dedicated to Kim Hyun Joong.  Sigh.  And I encourage all of you who have already friended that profile to go check it out & add your own favorite videos to the thread.  The world needs more KHJ.  So even though he is completely unaware that he turned my mood from blah to happy I want to say, Kamsahabnida Kim Hyun Joong-ssi for just being you.   Jjinja.  This old lady thanks you for your smile & your talent.  It brightened an otherwise blah day.

For those of you that aren't on FB, &/or aren't interested in friending Jess Unnie on FB, here are some of my favorite KHJ performances.  Sigh what a nice voice he has.  The videos are not mine, they aren't official, they are from his fans because they love him.  And he appreciates his fans, even if just once he'd like to say, "Stop buying me food, I can do that, just buy my album instead."  Classic KHJ, honesty.  I bought your album.  Which means you owe me dinner dude. ;)

Have a great day AddiKts.  BTW The Master's Sun ep 5 is already almost finished subbing, I know what I will be watching while my son is at Tae Kwon Do tonight! Squeeee!!!  Yep, the day is no longer so blah.

Unnie's Wednesday Write Up: Casting Calls & Major Signings

Have I told you guise lately that I feel truly so blessed?  I really do.  I have made some amazing new friendships in the last year, some in person & some virtual, w fellow AddiKts all around the world.  Some have written me letters (emails) of encouragement, some have become great friends that I watch our beloved KDramas with while we live chat at the same time, some that have become "aunties" to my kids & send them treats.  Of course it helps that my kids are just so stinking cute. ;)  I even have my first Official Stalker, as of this week.  Kind of nice being the 'stalkee' as opposed to the 'stalker', for a change.  *giggle*   Of course the dealio is, if she gets to stalk me, then I get to stalk her back.  I look forward to getting to know her better.  She seems like a lot of fun & I like people who make me smile.  Being able to make people smile is a rare & beautiful gift & I appreciate people who can make me smile.  It was one the most attractive qualities in my husband.  He just makes me laugh so often & I LOVE to laugh.  To those of you who started as fellow addiKts but have taken that first tentative step toward reaching out to become a friend I thank you for being so much braver than I am.  Your friendship & your hearts are appreciated.

Well, now that we got all that mushy stuff over, how about we move on to more K Drama news?  This last week 2 big announcements caught my eye & I had to squee over both of them.  And one totally personal announcement for one of those awesome new "K"  friends I've made over the last few months.

Kim Hyun Joong officially cast as Male Lead for Age of Feelings
That's right!  My Kim Hyun Joong, whose latest album "Round 3" has hit the ground and taken flight w hit MVs for the tracks, "Unbreakable" & "Your Story",  has finally made it official that he has nabbed the leading male role in the new upcoming drama Age of Feeling.  Which has also announced that the 2 leading ladies have been cast as well.  I am very excited about this news & yet a little nervous too.  City Conquest broke me of becoming too excited, as they had even started filming & still had the carpet pulled out from under them.  If this goes that route too then I will seriously be irritated & will be flying myself to Seoul, even if I have to stuff myself in luggage.  At only 5'2" (or 156 cm) tall, I should easily be able to squeeze myself into a large suitcase, right?  If this show gets canceled like City Conquest, the people who are responsible better wear shin guards!  That's right I went there!  However, I was sad that he was their 3rd choice for leading male.  But as long as he is the one starring who cares that he was 3rd choice, maybe this will be the defining moment in his career that will make the ones who turned it down regret that choice & everyone will see KHJ shine.  Sending good luck vibes out to my bias, break a leg Kim Hyun Joong-ssi, you're gonna knock 'em dead.

Ha Ji Won (Unnie's Girl Crush) signs w UTA
The second announcement for my favorite actress, Ha Ji Won.  Who scored a  major coup this week, when she signed with United Talent Agency, UTA.  Only one of the US's largest & most influential talent agency.  An agency that carries other big name stars, like my ultimate & first ever crush & an incredibly talented actor, that is constantly changing himself into whatever character he needs to be, Johnny Depp.  This is BIG news!  This move on Ha Ji Won's part is being touted as a huge coup for Asian actresses everywhere as this wasn't just a meet & greet for a single project but an actual contractual signing, she now works with them!  This is her chance to break into the Hollywood scene & maybe beyond.  Now I hope & pray that they will not relegate her in to the typical Asian character but will give her real roles & real characters to play that showcase her enviable talents as a first rate actress.  I have to say I may have more than a little 'girl crush' on Ha Ji Won.  She really is my favorite actress.  So everybody wish her good luck too.  Ha Ji Won-ssi break a leg & show those 'Hollyweirdos' exactly what you're made of girlfriend.  You totally got this girl!

Hot Korean Pop Music every Sunday in Austin Texas!
And one more announcement...this one is for a friend.  A few weeks ago she suggested to her boss, at the radio station she works at, that they should do a one hour KPop program on their station, he was intrigued by the idea and asked her to work up the deets.  Excitedly she did & he liked her ideas so he gave her the 7-8 pm time slot every Sunday night!!  How exciting!  She works on the line up & program all week long & then bam!  A hit show every Sunday night.  You guys have got to check it out!  The show can be found, if you are in the Austin TX area on 103.2 The Fix on Mega HD2.  You can also tune in online here.  OR you can use the TuneIn Radio App on your device.  Shout to you Jen!  Bringing KPop to the US!  Kamsahabnida chingu!  This lucky lady is even attending KCon this month in Los Angeles & is hoping to get some time to talk to the KPop Stars.  What questions would you guise like her to ask GD or f(x)? (just examples)  Leave some comments on this blog post, my Unnie FB profile, the TCA FB profile OR you can even go to the Official Fix Kpop FB page & leave them there, don't forget to Like the page while you're there & show your support for our favorite music!  And then tune in Sunday nights to listen & get your Kpop Groove on!  I know Dongsaeng & I will be listening!

That is all for now AddiKts.  I hope you have a fabulous rest of the week.  Look for the next 2 installments in my reviews for The Master's Sun, this Thursday/Friday.  Can I say how much I LOVE this drama.  So perfect!!  Come on Hong Sisters don't let an Unnie down now, pleasepleasepleasepleasepleaseplease?!?!?!?

Unnie's Wednesday Write Up: I'll show you Low Brow!

So this was one of the topics I was considering last week as a WWU.  But decided against as I was just in the mood for fluff & fun.  At the end of July, the Wall Street Journal wrote an article covering, sort of, the fascination w Korean Dramas.  They talked about a study that was conducted by Seoul National University, where researchers studied Chinese TV viewership & found that K Dramas were very popular, thereby showing that the biggest draw for these shows are people w the little education & have a lower income.  Entitling the article, "South Korean Soap Operas: Just Low Brow Fun?"   This article happened to pop up in my News Feed on FB while I was on vacation with my family.  My poor CA, then had to listen to me rant & rave & give a huge breathless diatribe as to the veracity & intelligence of this article's author.  He's such a patient & loving husband, I'm a lucky woman.

What I found interesting was the viewing choices of people of higher education & income, so the article claims the study says,
"The high-education-and-high-income group showed a preference for the subject matter’s novelty, fast pace and suspense — often found in U.S. TV shows, the report said. “The Big Bang Theory” was the most popular feature for fans of American TV."

What this article does not point out, sufficiently, in my opinion, is that this study was conducted in China, exclusively.  The author of the article does not mention that K Dramas are beloved the world over, including this country.  So what would the study determine from the many K Drama fans in the US?  Of which I can only gather there are a great many, going from the counters on our blog, which tallies US readership higher than any other country at a whopping 109,552 views to date since we opened our metaphorical doors, of course most of those readers, nay those fellow AddiKts, may not yet be willing to admit their closet addiKtion, btw negative articles like this do not help K Drama fans come out of that "K-loset" either.  Who would when the stigma of "Low Brow Fun" is attached?

I happen to live in a lovely suburban area of the Midwest.  I have an education & while yes I am a stay at home mom, & therefore earn no money, for my endless work, my husband works a wonderful job, that is more than capable of taking care of this large family of 6.  I also happen to LOVE The Big Bang Theory as much as I LOVE my K Dramas.  What does that say about me?  Am I "Low Brow"?  Keep in mind, before you answer that question,  I'm an avid reader, a fan of the opera, ballet, & the theater too.

The thing I find most appealing about my AddiKtion, is the cleanliness found in K Dramas.  They are funny, intense, exciting, dramatic, entertaining & clean.  I do not have to wait & watch after my kids have gone to bed, as a precaution to them walking in on a nude scene or a sex scene, which is prevalent among US TV shows.  In fact my kids like to watch with me.  Even The Big Bang Theory, imho, is far too mature a show for my teenage son to watch, with its ribald humor & innuendo & make out precursor to sex scenes, that are rife throughout each episode.  Great adult fun & laughter, sure!  Not exactly safe for my kids!

So while I was at first very offended that I was considered Low Brow.  I was also insulted for the Chinese who were called Low Brow as well, how dare they not make more money & have higher education!!  Let's shame those who do the best they can, who work hard from sun up till sundown w little pay, by telling them have lousy taste in TV shows & are obviously too poor & stupid to know better.

As I thought more & more about it, I decided as it was the author who deemed it necessary to label our beloved K Dramas as "Low Brow Fun", I can only assume they have their own low opinion of the rise of K Dramas in this country & are trying to shame people from watching them, without actually giving them a chance, or they are trying to insert their opinion rather than allowing people to decide for themselves.  But wait they would have had to do some research to discover they were insulting a great many of their very own readers & obviously they did no research for this pathetic attempt at journalism.

And that right there, that lack of research, of forethought, of intelligence & obviously that pseudo intellectual belief that they are better than others, based solely on their level of education & what people like to watch for entertainment, that is why I was offended.  Yes, it is this form of sloppy, opinionated journalism that I actually take offense to.  What happened to relating actual news w some actual reporting included?  This is why I was so irritated with this person's article.  It was lazy, sloppy, & showed no actual research whatsoever.  A mere criticism of something they didn't take the time to study in greater depth & detail.

They found a study & slapped an insulting title to it & BAM, Voila!  Sensational journalism, at it's worst, rearing its ugly head!  I can understand this from quick entertainment news outlets, that focus on the shallow surface of stories for sensationalism; but this is an article in what I used to believe was a reputable newspaper.  Apparently even they are guilty of shoddy, lazy journalism.  Color me disappointed & dismayed.

Shame on you WSJ for posting that article.  Shame on you for criticizing something you know nothing about, as is obvious from the lack of journalistic integrity in this article.  Maybe your reporters should take a step off of & away from their high horse & realize that humanity is a varied & interesting species.  With many different & eclectic tastes & preferences & judging people on shallow items such as what they watch on TV to determine their intelligence & background is elitist, pompous, puffed up & arrogant.  Need to me to use other synonyms?  I can you know, cause I can spell!  And yes I watch Korean Dramas. I watch them so much I barely watch US TV at all.  I watch them so much I started a blog w my best friend all about them.  I watch them so much I am trying to learn another language.  WAIT!!  That can't be right?!?!  Only intelligent people learn to speak other languages.  Korean Drama watchers aren't intelligent ergo I couldn't possibly be trying to learn another language.  BTW WSJ....this will be my 3rd language.

I have a suggestion for the WSJ reporter who decided to label me & my fellow AddiKts as "Low Brow", why don't you say it to my face, you pompous know it all? I dare you.

Have a great week addiKts.  I don't know about you, but I feel better.

JYJ Solidarity Day *End of special day Edit*

Hey guess what TCA is doing today 10-12-12 on FB?

We're going to join our friends in an impromptu celebration;
JYJ Solidarity Day.
Picture source credit goes to Bonstanceus
Thanks B-Chan!

We want to celebrate the class & dignity & grace these guys have shown in the face of trials.

Do you not know why we want to show our JYJ solidarity?  Go Here & read the story.

We just decided it yesterday but have been so busy we haven't been able to really advertise it.  So I'm doing that now.

How do you participate?

Easy peasy!

Just change your Facebook Cover/Profile, or BOTH, picture to any picture you want of JYJ.  That's it.

Oh & spread the word.  People need to know what went down this week.  We'd like to show our wonderful JYJ guys how much we love & support them. And more importantly that SM & SBS have no real power.  Won't you guys join us in little display of love?  Oh come on, you know you want to.

You know my favorite picture, so why don't you show me yours!  Change your cover & then head on over to TCA FB or visit TCA on Twitter or me on Twitter & show me the picture too.

Fill up the Twitter & FB feed w/ pics of our beautiful JYJ?!?!?

Who doesn't want to see that?!?!?!

See you there AddiKts!

Saranghamnida,
Unnie & Dongsaeng!

*****************EDIT***************
Thank you so much to all of you who participated in the JYJ Solidarity Day on FB & Twitter!  We had so much fun!  We should do a JYJ Solidarity Day everyday!!  Oh heck yeah!  Any day my FB & Twitter feeds fill up w/ hawt pics of JYJ is an awesome day to me.  It was like opening dozens of boxes of Happy!

TCA received emails & Tweets & FB messages & even comments on this here blog.  The outpouring of love for JYJ from our readers & fellow AddiKts was overwhelming for this crazy ahjumma!  Thank you for your wonderful support for JYJ.  Over the last few years they have treated us w/ amazing music, beautiful voices, sexy hot dance moves & humor & love, & exemplary examples of dignity & grace.  We know that none of the JYJ boys or any of  our fav K Idols will ever read this here modest little ahjumma post/blog & that they are completely unaware that it's even here, which is totally fine...we don't do this for them.  We do it for you guys!  {{and for ourselves because we're AddiKts too!}}  However, I am so glad that we could help spread the word on such talented guys.

And AddiKts thank you again for the lovely things you said about Dongsaeng & myself.  It was a very emotional day today.  Knowing that we have helped even a few of you to not feel so alone in the lovely K World & that you love us as much as we love you, has made the many, many late nights writing, drafting, organizing these blog posts so worth it all.  {{I doubt CA will agree with me there...he misses his wife.  Giggle.}}  But to me, & I know to Dongsaeng, it means the world.

Komawo chingus.  Saranghae!
구마워 친구를.  사랑해!
Thanks friends.  (We) Love you!

Unnie's Wednesday Write Up: AddiKtion...the beginning.

I'm talking to a friend today about K Dramas.  I helped to hook her onto K Dramas with the incredibly sexy & romantic, Kang Ji Hwan in Lie To Me.  What can I say?  I am really good at indoctrinating new K Drama AddiKts.  Anyway, her life has been really super busy & she hasn't had time to keep up with her K Dramas. She & I have barely spoken in the last couple of months as well & we used to talk almost daily, that's how busy she has been.  Of course, like me, she has many important things balancing in the air...including her own 3 monstrosities demanding her time & attention.  Ahhh such is the life of mom, right?

While we were talking I asked her, as I hadn't spoken to her in a while, whether she was still watching...I was wondering do I need to freshen up that hypnotism?  No, she hadn't watched in a while...too busy.  Which was driving her absolutely bonkers.  She missed her daily dose of K Drama!  {{Pardon me while I dance a little jig that she's going through K Drama withdrawal...I know.  I am SUCH a great friend, right?!?!}}  She had started The King 2 Hearts just recently & had made it to episode 3.  And had, had to stop there, so that she could handle some crazy busy projects she's got going.  As of Sept 23rd though she'll be able to breath again.  Then she happily declared she would also be able to watch her shows again. LOL  I couldn't help but giggle.

All of this talking about life getting in the way of our AddiKtion got me thinking though.  How often do I allow life to keep me away from K Drama?  Okay in all honesty, not very often.  I seriously guard my drama time!  It's MY time!  Mine!!  No one gets between me & my K Dramas!!  NO ONE!!!  O.O

But occasionally life just....happens.  And you have to reign in all the unimportant extras & focus on the truly important.  NOW WAIT A MINUTE!!!  STOP WATCHING KDRAMAS because life gets too busy?!?! That sentence makes no sense I know.

In the beginning of my AddiKtion I could NOT stop watching!!  I went crazy Krazy!!  I was eating, sleeping, dreaming, breathing K Dramas!  I could NOT get enough into my system.  Watching several shows a week.  And when I say watching I mean MARATHONING!!!  I MARATHONED  BOF, PK, CP, Pasta, SG, PT, MLSS, CYHMH...  It drove CA insane.  So many fights about this new addiKtion.  It went on like this for months of him resenting & the arguing & debating & guilt trips.

We're much better now.  He has finally accepted my insane AddiKtion.  Like the patient good hearted man he is, he finally just realized this is it.  My wife has finally snapped. {{tru dat!! And what a lovely way to go, right?!?!}}  I still managed to get all the required things done during the day but at night....  At night I was a K Drama Vampire.  Sucking in as many episodes as I could.  I stayed up night after night after night till 2,3,4 am!!   When I first started I had a BB, not an iPhone.  So I couldn't even watch in bed, I had to stay at my laptop in the family room.  While my husband & kids slept peacefully.  Then when I finally did get my iPhone, VIKI had just started their app, & I started watching on my iPhone, at the Dr's office, in bed, {{& when I say in bed I mean of course, under the covers, ear buds in, hiding my addiKtion to prevent another fight BTW I still do this only not to avoid a fight but so that the bright screen doesn't keep my CA awake}}  in the family  room, while trying to make dinner, which burned quite often at that point.  I was really obnoxious & very much like a zombie.  Looking back now I am surprised my CA didn't leave me.  I know why he didn't though.  When we first got married we made a deal...First one to leave has to take the kids with them.  It worked, both of us are afraid of the kids. @o@

And I hadn't yet come out of the Kloset yet.  My friends couldn't understand why I was so tired.  Why all of a sudden I didn't want to leave for get togethers day OR night.  I needed my K Drama Fix!!  That's why!!  I couldn't leave my K Dramas!!  They needed me to watch them!!

I promise I have calmed down since then.  Chincha.  But I do still NEED, {{Yes I said NEED}} at least one K Drama a day.  I hardly ever watch US TV anymore.  Although, I didn't really watch that much US TV anyway, I had maybe a handful of shows & most of them were from the cable channels, which means the shows were only on for about 6 weeks then they went on hiatus.  I liked maybe 2 prime time shows, Bones & Castle.  Otherwise I just read a book or watched a movie.  But then this whole new world opened.  I still LOVE me some Bones & Castle. But I have found, I would much rather watch K Dramas during the season & then just Netflix the show after the current season airs.

Do you still watch US TV?  Or TV in your country, if not in the US?  Or are you on a strict diet of K Drama only?  And why?  What is it about K Dramas that you love guys?  It can't all be because of incredibly sexy Oppas?  LOL  I know they are a big portion of the reason but what else has you hooked?  Is it the romance? The writing?  The acting?  Because not ALL K Dramas are all that & a bag of chips too.  So what is it about K Dramas that turns intelligent women like us {{& men too}} into KDRama vampires & quasi zombies that we can't live without our addiKtion?   And how many episodes into a KDrama do you get before you think I MUST HAVE  MORE!!!  MORE K DRAMA NOM NOM NOM NOM!!!!  NEED MORE KDRAMA!!!!  Which K Drama was your gateway drug? Which Oppa was it that made you go, DANG HE'S HAWT!!!! ?  Who is your favorite K Drama Actress?  Do you have a favorite writing team?  Or Director?  Or maybe for you it is ALL about the Oppa.  {{Can't say I blame you, some of them Oppas is mighty yummy to stare at O.O}}

My first 2 K Dramas were My Princess w/ my Song Seung Heon Oppa & Playful Kiss w/ Kim Hyun Joong (not my oppa but I wish he was).  ;)P  Do you have a top 10 list of Oppas?  (even if they aren't technically oppas)

Unnie's Top 10:
*Note this "Oppa" list is subject to change...all the time*

Kim Hyun Joong, Hyun Bin, Kang Ji Hwan, Lee Seung Gi, Song Seung Heon, Lee Byung Hun, Lee Min Ho, Leeteuk, G Dragon & Junsu.  Hmmmmm....good looking men them, right?

Ahhh those Oppas.  Ahhh those Oppas, we wish were actually old enough to be Oppas.  Ahhhh I've just used the term Oppa a lot in this post.

Which reminds me...  Before I close off my Wednesday Write Up for this week I have to make my announcement of who won the TCA Challenge!  Last Saturday for those that didn't already know I challenged everyone to find a picture of Kim Hyun Joong & give it a funny caption, that involved Unnie.  And I just as I beginning to think you were all a bunch of party poopers I got hit by a slew of awesome pictures!! I had been out w/ CA for the evening hanging with other grown ups....so nice to talk to grown ups & only grown ups.  And when I cam home at 11pm there were about a dozen pictures on the TCA FB page!  OMO!!!  All of them were very inventive & funny!  It was torture trying to pick just one winner.  But I had to pick just one.  Before I announce the winning picture though I thought it would be fun to show some of the honorable mentions....

TCA CAPTION CHALLENGE!!
(honorable mentions)

"Did Unnie say to take off my shirt before or after I sing her favorite song?"

We are known to do that from time to time you know.  Guilty!  VERY guilty!!  And Very Happy about it too!

‎"I have a great idea CA! We can share Unnie!"
Hmmmm..... somehow I don't think CA will go for this. LOL  I could be wrong.  I'm not but I could be.
"Naughty Unnie - did you pop off my shirt buttons again?"
GIGGLE...who me?!?!  Never!!!  {{Should have popped all of them!  *Looks around surprised* Who said that?!?!}}

And the 2nd place winner.....
Awwww.... I WISH!!!  giggle

AND THE 1st PLACE WINNER IN THE KHJ/UNNIE CAPTION CHALLENGE IS...
Captioned by B-Chan

Thank you B-Chan & everyone else, for those awesome funny pictures/captions.  If you guys want to see some awesome Pinterest boards just click on B-Chan's name/link.  The woman is amazing!  As for the captioned pics?  I laughed so hard when I saw these.  Honestly, it was truly so hard to pick just one winner.  They were all winners!  There were so many very funny & some slightly naughtier {{thank you for the naughty ones AddiKts!!  I LOVE me some "Naughty Unnie" captions}} captioned pics of KHJ!!

There were over 20 pictures all in all.  And we all had a lot of fun giggling & leaving our own remarks in the comments under the pictures.  Thank you to all of the amazingly funny participants!!  You guys rock the creativity talent!  Now, start stock piling your Jaejoong pics because I think Dongsaeng wants a chance to pick her favorite Captioned JJ pic.

And that is all I have to say on that subject.  Hope you guys are having a great week.  I look forward to more K Dramas...always!  AND more K Drama discussions with you guys!  And of course MORE OPPAS!!  giggle

A Birthday Wish and a Question

A very happy birthday to our very favorite leading lady, Ha Ji Won!

We, Unnie and Dongsaeng, first met her in Secret Garden as the tough and loveable stuntwoman, Gil Ra Im.    She dazzled us with her acting chops and talent right off the bat.  She was no-nonsense, yet could be adorable and sweet.  It was love at first sight with this actress for us.

The love continued as we watched her in The King 2 Hearts, where she played tough and loveable North Korean trained assassin-turned South Korean princess/queen (what exactly was her title when she married the king?), Kim Hang Ah.  Again, she showed great range as she could be scary and fragile at the same time.

And these are just two of her roles.  She has a long list of successes and awards.  These are the two that we have seen so far.  They certainly won't be the last for us though as she tops both of our lists as our favorite actress.  And just think of where those lips have gone?!  Lee Seung Gi and Hyun Bin?!  That's one lucky gal right there!  She's like our hero for that alone!  ^.^

Ha Ji Won - thank you for your hard work and dedication.  You are a joy to watch and we just adore you!  We hope that your birthday is wonderful and filled with love.  We look forward to following your career in the future!

Love,
The Crazy Ahjummas
Unnie and Dongsaeng

Now....
A question for you, our readers...
This was asked on our Facebook page (and we would LOVE it if you would answer it there too).  We'd do a poll here, but with the new format, that's not supported, so we'll just ask and hope that comments come flowing in.

The question?

What Do You Want to See More of on TCA?

  • K-Drama Reviews
  • Eye Candy Talk
  • Ahjumma Articles (Unnie's Wednesday Write Up and Monday Morning Therapy with Dongsaeng)
  • K-Pop Reviews   or
  • All of the Above (you love us just as we are with the mix we already have)

We want to write about the things that you like, so share with us what you like.  Your opinions matter.  We really do aim to please.  We're still getting our feet wet and trying to find a stride that works for not only us, but for you, our readers, as well.  After all, this wouldn't be much fun if we were writing what we liked but no one was reading it.  It's all about you.  You matter.  You count.  We are nothing without each of you.  So let us know what you enjoy so we can keep it coming.  ^-^

change can be a good thing

Yes, change can indeed be a good thing.

You may have noticed a slight change on this here blog of ours.  We're just trying to make it a little less "mom blog" looking & a little more professional around here.  Which means, how you navigate TCA, will change too.  Actually I think it will be easier.  No more having to search through the blog one slow loading page at a time.  Instead you just have to keep scrolling south & read all the different post titles on your way.  or you can just hop on over to the little section of black on the side...> to our sidebar.  It's a sidebar pop out menu.  Very easy.  The labels to all our posts are right there, if you are looking for one particular post.

That sidebar is important!  It's where you can sign up to follow this blog officially as well as Google + the blog, although you can still Google + each post individually too.

If you forget all these instructions we created this a "page" up there ---^ just to provide you with those wonderful links we heart so much & to give you a short tutorial on how to work this new layout.  It will stay there indefinitely.

So?  What do you think of the new layout?  We didn't freak you out did we?  Change is a good thing.  I just keep chanting that, feel free to join me.

Oh!  And one more thing!  Unnie's AddiKtion Playlist from her YouTube Channel has been moved.  New layout wouldn't allow it at the bottom of the blog anymore. :(  It is now located at the bottom of the "Unnie" page.  So if you want to listen to K-Pop or stare at the beautiful men (or if you're a guy there are some girls on there to stare at too), just click on Unnie's Page at the top of the blog under the title.  Then scroll to the bottom of her page & enjoy!

The Management  ^.^
