I Hear Your Voice ep 14: Dramatic Review

This episode can be summed up rather easily - the whole entire thing is everyone grappling internally with what all should be revealed.  Everyone knows something that would cause pain to someone else if they knew.  They want to do the right thing and protect those people.  So the entire episode is them each doing the "should I, shouldn't I" back and forth.  Hye Sung knows Do Yun's true identity as the missing daughter of the guy her dad sent to jail 26 years ago for a murder that didn't happen.  Soo Ha has recovered his memories and knows what happened between his father and Psycho that started this whole nightmare for himself and Hye Sung.  Attorney Cha knows the history behind Soo Ha's dad and Psycho as well.  It's all about secrets and the age-old dilemma of just what do you do when you know something that could hurt someone you care about.  That's about it.  You just got the whole episode summarized. Boom!  Can I go watch Mischievous Kiss Love in Tokyo's finale now?

What?  You want more?  I just told you everything.  Really.  There's really not more to say.

Okay, okay, I'm sure I can figure something out.  Let's see here...

Dongsaeng's Dramatic Dozen Divided by Dul for ep 14

1.  The Truth Hurts
Soo Ha comes clean to Hye Sung about having his memories and abilities back.  To say that she's embarrassed that he knows her true feelings is an understatement.  It doesn't go well.  She storms off and he is left standing there, facing heartbreaking memories from his sad childhood.

2.  Cha Cha Cha
Attorney Cha has been injured in his run-in with Psycho.  But he's being a trooper as always.  He tries to get his old job as a public defender back.  He comes in second.  Not to worry, the apparent new hotshot flips out when he realizes how little money is involved in this gig and runs off, leaving a vacancy for Mr 2nd Place.

3.  WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Post-revelation fallout, Soo Ha tries to make peace by avoiding eye contact, and therefore mind reading, with Hye Sung.  He still follows her in order to protect her (there is a madman on the loose gunning for her after all), but it's so so sad.  Finally, she admits that she likes him to his face and throws caution to the wind and decides she's not going to hide anymore.  She's going to do what feels right and figure it all out as they go.  She WANTS him, INVITES him, to read her mind.  She wants to live happily with him, come what may.  Oh.My.Goodness!!!!  Yay!!!  I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with the happy feels just as Soo Ha is when he turns back and lifts her up and plants a little smooch smack on her lips in broad daylight.  You guys, this drama, seriously, right?  You know what I mean, don't you?  This is just...just...magic here this is.  You know it, I know it, we all know it.  It's fabulous.

4.  Cameo
Adding to the awesomeness of this week's episodes and this drama in general is this totally fun cameo appearance from Attorney Choi of A Gentleman's Dignity.  Remember this one?  He was an older guy in love with his best friend's little sister.  She pursued him, he tried to do the "right thing" by avoiding her and denying his feelings, but in the end....  Well, looks like he and Attorney Cha are old friends and this big shot lawyer wants to hire him for his firm.  BEST CAMEO EVER!  Okay, ONE of the BEST CAMEOS EVER (there have been some pretty awesome cameos in other dramas too).  Brought a huge smile and out loud giggles as I watched.

5.  1%
Hye Sung has made up her mind.  Not only is she embracing her relationship with Soo Ha (yippee!), she's going to make sure that all these secrets come to light.  She approaches Judge Dad first in order to give him the opportunity to come clean before she herself reveals everything.  He doesn't take her up on her offer.  She has that wonderful moment of payback, using his own words from 11 years ago against him.  You go girl!

6.  Less Satisfying Conversation
Too bad Judge Dad didn't go for it, because now it falls on Hye Sung to reveal the truth to Do Yun.  Despite their messy history, Hye Sung truly does not want to bring Do Yun this news that will inevitably hurt her.  But she has to.  She has examined every other option and has spent the entire episode agonizing over this dilemma, but decides in the end that the truth is the right way to go.  Knowing Do Yun, I'm sure she would agree that Hye Sung did the right thing.  She knows something weird is going on.  She knows it involves her father somehow.  She needs to know the truth, no matter the pain that it will bring.  Still, talk about a difficult conversation.

Now, only one secret remains to be told -- the biggie.  The one that ties their lives together.  Soo Ha's father's involvement in the death of Psycho's wife that started this whole drama to begin with.  Soo Ha knows the truth as does Attorney Cha.  Attorney Cha insists that Hye Sung never find the truth out.  Soo Ha isn't so sure.  Someone tell because I have to know what really happened!!!

Fabulous week in drama land, isn't it?  We've been blessed by the drama gods once again.  We're now down the the final two weeks of this drama.  Wow!  It's just flown by, hasn't it?  I can't believe we're already here.  What an amazing ride it has been.  I can't wait to see what the end of the ride looks like.

  1. That cameo was epic! I'm still technically watching AGD, but this character in it was my favorite. Funny though, I was sitting there thinking "Oh he's a lawyer again" "Oh he's talking about somebody called Meahri - that sounds familiar, must be a common name.." 5 minutes later "OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! AWESOME"

Sometimes, I can be a bit slow. hehe

The best thing about this drama so far - they're not waiting until the last 10 minutes to show us kisses and romance! I love how practical she is too, and not drama-broody like most females who get their feelings hurt and sit around for 5 episodes being mad and not talking to people. That she admits to be hurt about his lies, then turns around and immediately forgives him.. drama gold. The look of delight on his eyes after her confession was just icing on the cake. *the kiss was the equivalent of 1000000 cherries on top*

    1. Oh my goodness, yes! I totally agree with you! I love her character and how her imperfections make her just absolutely perfect. She's strong but quirky and I love that! And he was soooo adorable! Drama gold for sure!
