You know how sometimes there is this amazing drama? The characters are choice, the plot intense, and everything is just perfect. And then comes along that sole small problem that just takes it down a notch from a 10 to a 9? I think we are at that point with Mask.... Personally, I think the episode count is just an episode or two too long and we are seeing the results. Whenever a show needs filler they always jump to the tried and true noble idiocy trope.

Mask Episode 17 - Chaebol Logic (aka- A Bunch Of Nonsense)
I'm not saying that this was a bad episode, however there did seem to be a lot of waffling around by self obsessed rich people. Not to mention a crazy number of scenes enacted by our OTP (one true pairing) in various beds. And before you get excited, don't, since it was almost as innocent as the twin marriage bed scenes of the 1950's sitcom. But on an up note...Min Woo and Ji Sook smiling cute on beds. YAY!

Mask Episode 16 - And Then He Kissed Her
KISS! Kiss, kiss, we get a kiss, kissy kiss, kiss. Guess what happens in today's episode? On the off chance that my hints were too subtle.... WE GET SOME SMOOCHING ACTION! But that is at the end, so let's get through the other less important plot real fast so we can get to the good stuff.

Mask Episode 15 - The Episode Where Seok Hoon Tries to Kill Min Woo.
We all knew that this day was coming. The backlash of "the secret" begins and our poor hearts break as Min Woo learns that he has been deceived yet again. Oh the agony. How is he going to handle the information? How are we going to handle him handling the truth? I trust Min Woo to lighten up the animosity brought forth by the evil twosome (aka Seok Hoon & Mi Yeon) and am not sure if I can handle 100% angst and revenge while he gets his mind together. So let's quickly rush through this recap so we can get to the other end and hopefully the romantic happy times will be back stronger and better than ever.

Mask Episode 14 - Just Spit it Out Already
Hello all! Time again for yet another fun recap of our favorite makjang melodrama "Mask". This episode Mi Yeon attempts to perfect the passive aggressive technique known to all female second leads as she tries the whole episode to reveal Ji Sook's big secret. Min Woo, meanwhile, continues to live in his romantic bubble, oblivious to all the drama surrounding him. Just another day in kdramaland.

Mask Episode 13 - Adorkable Min Woo for the Win
OH MY GOSH! This episode was so full of the cutest, cheesiest, totally 100% dorky romance, that I could barely contain my squeals. Sure we are still kissless, but Min Woo eases the lack of skinship pains with his over the top gushing towards his wife. We are talking cooing newlywed gushing that is rarely seen in kdramas. So come join me as I delve into their scary displays of PDA (public displays of affection), along with some crazy couple combusting from Seok Hoon and Mi Yeon. Because everything can't be all flowers and sausages, or else this wouldn't be Mask.

Mask Episode 12 - Babies, Birthday Cakes, & Murder
We have couples coming together, some for all the wrong reasons (glaring at you Mi Yeon), while secrets are being outed right and left. Add in our usual dose of crazy pants Seok Hoon and you have one satisfying episode of "Mask".

Mask Episode 10 - Team Min Woo VS. Team Seok Hoon
Woot! There is finally progress on all fronts, and while I still remain slightly miffed at our leading lady, things are beginning to look up. All it took was for Ji Sook to realize that Min Woo is part of her family (for real, not just in name only) and it is full steam ahead on the protect Min Woo train.

Mask Episode 9 - Just Tell Him Already
Two things needed to happen this episode. First, Ji Sook needed to stop trusting Seok Hoon
and start using her brain. Second, she needs to tell Min Woo the truth
already. I am not kidding, show; let's get that secret out into the air
so it can circulate, much like our plot needs a breath of fresh air to
move forward. JUST TELL HIM. Sadly, neither happens and we are left
twisting to and fro in a never ending circle of Ji Sook stupidity.

Mask Episode 8 - Long Live Seok Hoon
Time is scarce thanks to my kids planning a million sleepovers this week so I will be brief in my recap. We are nearing the half way point and while I adore this drama, there are a few things that I need to discuss before we go any further. So I am going to use this post to chat about what I am loving, and what I feel could be tweaked just a bit.

Mask Episode 7 - Min Woo Goes A-Seducing
I have come to expect a certain amount of increased melo with each episode. You can't go through murder, blackmail, doppelgangers, amnesia, and a truckload of other kdrama tropes in the first third of the drama, and then just level out the plot. But even I was not expecting the extreme increase that came our way. I feel like I was expecting a wine cooler, and instead was served a 300 year old bottle of scotch. Things got crazy really really fast thanks to Seok Hoon's descent into stalker mode.

Mask Episode 6 - "I'm Not Your Noona" and Other White Lies
Emotions continue to grow as Ji Sook's younger brother stirs the pot of the Choi family emotions. Mi Yeon becomes suspicious, Ji Sook agonizes over the reality of her situation, Min Woo becomes jealous, and Seok Hoon continues his usual brand of crazy. All in all another normal day in the world of "Mask".

Mask Episode 5 - Fashion Fueled Makjang
Our OTP (one true pairing) is slowly becoming a power couple within Choi household. Meanwhile Seok Hoon takes a break from crazy stalking Ji Sook to work on manipulating his own wife. Just a normal day within the most dysfunctional, over the top family, in South Korea. The best part is how fashionable they look while doing all their plotting, revenging, and in Ji Sook's case, living. So come join Kmuse as she chats the fashion statements of episode 5.

Mask Episode 3 - Let's Play a Twisted Game of My Fair Lady
Who knew that surviving the crash would actually be the easy part of Ji Sook's week? As Ji Sook is saved and then awakes in Eun Ha's hospital bed, so begins her portrayal as Eun Ha (hmmm... I think I will continue to call her Ji Sook since that is easiest to remember.). Now she has to just convince everyone else that she is the dead socialite. But no worries, Seok Hoon will be by her side, like an evil Henry Higgins, forcing guiding her every step.

Mask Episode 2 - Let's Get All Machiavellian Up In This Joint.
I know. I know. This recap is super late. So late, that Mask episode 3 is almost up. But in my defense I was computerless most of the week due to vacation plans so was super behind on my recapping. With that in mind, this is going to be a smaller recap then usual so I can get caught up. Since nothing is worse then having to wait for a recap weeks after the episode airs :)

Mask Episode 1 - Dying Is Not Necessarily A Bad Thing
It was a dark and stormy night......... OK, not stormy, but certainly dark, I just always wanted to start a post with that phrase and it seemed apt. A car races around the curve, going too fast for the conditions (Did anyone get distracted by the obviously planted purple and yellow flowers on the side of the road? Beautiful, but obviously not natural and it distracted me). A deer trots into the middle of the road, startling the driver who swerves to avoid the poor thing. By saving Bambi, the car shoots through the railing and crashes over the side of an ocean cliff. The only thing that saves the unfortunate passengers is the barrier cords that wrap around the tires of the car, keeping it from plummeting.

Press Conference Photos and Long Trailer Released for Upcoming Drama "Mask"
I know you might all be thinking to yourself: "Seriously? Kmuse is doing yet another promo for "Mask"" To which I reply "You bet your sweet petunia I am". I know it is a ton of trailers for the same show, but each one unearths new clues into this wonderful makjongfest of a drama. Also, I was not able to find people who were simulcasting "Secret" back in the day and I feel like I missed out on a ton of fun discussion. This time I am determined to get my friends (and all drama fans) hooked from the beginning to create a dialogue concerning all the crazy antics I am sure will be coming.

2nd Trailer for "Mask" - Doppelgangers and Murder
I
am getting so excited for this drama I can barely contain my wicked
glee. Why wicked you ask? Because I can already tell that this is
going to be an epic melofest of awesomeness. The type of drama that you
watch while sipping wine (or in my case, Diet Pepsi) from crystal
decanters with all your kbesties. All the while, trying to guess what makjang trope
they will trot out next (in only the best way of course).
