Nobunaga Concerto: The Movie Releases Exciting Trailer for Oguri Shun Fans

Calling all Oguri Shun fans to come rejoice at our bias being in a new movie.  Not only a movie, but the continuation, and hopefully conclusion, of last years drama Nobunaga Concerto.

Ouroboros Episode 7 - Blood Bath at the Haunted House

It's a bloody fun time at the amusement park as every cop and their minions show up in search for either answers or to keep answers hidden.  Thankfully some secrets are finally out in the open, but for every secret revealed only more questions remain and I personally am as confused as our boys on who is the good guys and who is the big bad we need to watch out for.

Ouroboros Episode 6 - Gunshot Red is the New Black

I was concerned that things were starting to slow down after episode 5, but boy was I wrong.  If anything Ouroboros writers put the story on steroids and went full throttle with so many reveals and twists that I am left gasping. This episode took the drama to a whole new level of epic and has literally made Ouroboros my #1 favorite Jdrama to date.  So let's jump into the recap with both feet forward so we can quickly start episode 7 since I can't survive much longer without knowing what happens to Ikuo.

Ouroboros Episode 5 - A Recap Quickie.

EEEEK!!!  New episodes are out and here I am back on episode 5 with my recaps.  Sorry for the delay, the show got slower being released (not that I am complaining since I am so thankful for the nice person subbing this drama for us! Fighting!) and life got busy.  So in order to keep my promise to myself and not watch ahead of my recaps, I am giving you episode 5 the abridged version.  Luckily this episode was slow on the mass murder side of things and heavy in the moral decision making which will allow me to breeze through so you and I can move onward.

Ouroboros Episode 4 - Dead Body In A Box

In this episode our Double Dragons continue their quest to find Sensai's killers (as usual).  We have another serial killer (as usual).  But this time we get to see Tatsuya cosplay a policeman (SQUEEEE) which might make this my favorite moment since the bathhouse scene.  Orguri Shun truly looks good ALWAYS.  The guy can do no wrong.  So let's jump into the mysteries that surround our boys present and past and enjoy all the pretty eye candy while we do it.

Ouroboros Episode 3 - How Many Killers are Running About Tokyo?

Episode 3 continues to dole out the awesome bromance as well as a hefty dose of detective work as our double dragons delve deeper into the mystery of who killed their Sensai.  But twenty year old mysteries are hard enough to solve without all of their leads ending up dead.

Ouroboros Episode 2 - The Wrong Path Taken

We had great progress this episode as we watched our two dragons fight against societies concepts of forgiveness and what it means to stay on the right path.  Especially when the right path seems to be littered with those killed or hurt by the societies worst scum.  It makes our anti-heroes question their vigilante motivation, and makes us viewers wonder if our leads are really heroes or only more of societies drudges who went down the wrong path.  We also get so much wonderful fan service via a bath house scene, which helps a lot in distracting us from the fact that we are rooting for murderers.

Ouroboros Episode 1 - Revenge is Best Served Cold

I am a huge Shun Oguri fan, and being a fan, I personally have loved his workaholic ways this past year.  So when subs were available for episode 1 of his newest Ouroboros, I was ecstatic.  But little did I know that I would like it so much that I have been inspired to recap it each week. 

2 New Japanese Crime Dramas Make an Impact

For the most part I am not a huge follower of Japanese dramas.  That is not to say that I don't like the occasional Jdrama (especially watched a lot back when I first started watching Asian television) but the lack of good romance tends to keep me away from the majority of them.  I have found that most are very focused on social structure and one's impact or part of the whole, which is fine every now and then but not something I want to watch every day.  So it came as a great surprise that I not only found one, but two great new dramas that hale from Japan.  Not only that but both are crime dramas with pretty much no romance at all.  However, both have amazing actors as the leading men and have an interesting hook that not only hooked me, but inspired me to write a special blog post about them.

Synopsis:
Detective Ango Ishikawa (Shun Oguri - Rich Man Poor Women, Tokyo Dogs) is investigating the murder of a cop when he is shot in the head by the suspect.  He dies, but comes back on the surgery table.  Living with the bullet still inserted in his head, he is shocked to find out that he can now commune with ghosts of the murder victims.

Why You Should Watch This:
 is an amazing actor and his stoic performance drags you into his world.  The murders are also interesting and I don't feel like the writers are just phoning it in.  In episode 2 when Detective Ishikawa interacted with the ghost of a serial killer, I literally got shivers.  This is perfect for those of you who like a good character driven drama.

-Bitter Blood/Partners in Blood-

Synopsis:
Natsuki Sahara (Takeru Sato - Bloody Sunday) is a rookie detective assigned to the violent crimes division.  Unfortunately for him he is now partnered up with his deadbeat dad, Akimura Shimao (Atsuro Watabe) who had deserted the family thirteen years earlier.  At first glance, they are complete opposites.  One is flashy and a ladies man, while the son is sensitive and emotional.  They must not only learn how to work together as partners, but relearn how to be a family. 

Why You Should Watch This:
The witty fast talking charm of both characters is a HUGE draw.  I fell in love with both of them within the first fifteen minutes and even watched the first episode a second time (and enjoyed it just as much).  I like that both father and son are basically good people who have overcome each others flaws and begin to understand where the other is coming from.  The drama goes at a fast pace and remains interesting as you see individual cases solved, while a revenge driven threat remains in the background of each episode just waiting to attack.  Even if cop shows are not your thing, I would still suggest you give this one a chance.  It truly is a diamond in the rough.
