Unnie's Wednesday Write Up: Casting Calls & Major Signings

Have I told you guise lately that I feel truly so blessed?  I really do.  I have made some amazing new friendships in the last year, some in person & some virtual, w fellow AddiKts all around the world.  Some have written me letters (emails) of encouragement, some have become great friends that I watch our beloved KDramas with while we live chat at the same time, some that have become "aunties" to my kids & send them treats.  Of course it helps that my kids are just so stinking cute. ;)  I even have my first Official Stalker, as of this week.  Kind of nice being the 'stalkee' as opposed to the 'stalker', for a change.  *giggle*   Of course the dealio is, if she gets to stalk me, then I get to stalk her back.  I look forward to getting to know her better.  She seems like a lot of fun & I like people who make me smile.  Being able to make people smile is a rare & beautiful gift & I appreciate people who can make me smile.  It was one the most attractive qualities in my husband.  He just makes me laugh so often & I LOVE to laugh.  To those of you who started as fellow addiKts but have taken that first tentative step toward reaching out to become a friend I thank you for being so much braver than I am.  Your friendship & your hearts are appreciated.

Well, now that we got all that mushy stuff over, how about we move on to more K Drama news?  This last week 2 big announcements caught my eye & I had to squee over both of them.  And one totally personal announcement for one of those awesome new "K"  friends I've made over the last few months.

Kim Hyun Joong officially cast as Male Lead for Age of Feelings
That's right!  My Kim Hyun Joong, whose latest album "Round 3" has hit the ground and taken flight w hit MVs for the tracks, "Unbreakable" & "Your Story",  has finally made it official that he has nabbed the leading male role in the new upcoming drama Age of Feeling.  Which has also announced that the 2 leading ladies have been cast as well.  I am very excited about this news & yet a little nervous too.  City Conquest broke me of becoming too excited, as they had even started filming & still had the carpet pulled out from under them.  If this goes that route too then I will seriously be irritated & will be flying myself to Seoul, even if I have to stuff myself in luggage.  At only 5'2" (or 156 cm) tall, I should easily be able to squeeze myself into a large suitcase, right?  If this show gets canceled like City Conquest, the people who are responsible better wear shin guards!  That's right I went there!  However, I was sad that he was their 3rd choice for leading male.  But as long as he is the one starring who cares that he was 3rd choice, maybe this will be the defining moment in his career that will make the ones who turned it down regret that choice & everyone will see KHJ shine.  Sending good luck vibes out to my bias, break a leg Kim Hyun Joong-ssi, you're gonna knock 'em dead.

Ha Ji Won (Unnie's Girl Crush) signs w UTA
The second announcement for my favorite actress, Ha Ji Won.  Who scored a  major coup this week, when she signed with United Talent Agency, UTA.  Only one of the US's largest & most influential talent agency.  An agency that carries other big name stars, like my ultimate & first ever crush & an incredibly talented actor, that is constantly changing himself into whatever character he needs to be, Johnny Depp.  This is BIG news!  This move on Ha Ji Won's part is being touted as a huge coup for Asian actresses everywhere as this wasn't just a meet & greet for a single project but an actual contractual signing, she now works with them!  This is her chance to break into the Hollywood scene & maybe beyond.  Now I hope & pray that they will not relegate her in to the typical Asian character but will give her real roles & real characters to play that showcase her enviable talents as a first rate actress.  I have to say I may have more than a little 'girl crush' on Ha Ji Won.  She really is my favorite actress.  So everybody wish her good luck too.  Ha Ji Won-ssi break a leg & show those 'Hollyweirdos' exactly what you're made of girlfriend.  You totally got this girl!

Hot Korean Pop Music every Sunday in Austin Texas!
And one more announcement...this one is for a friend.  A few weeks ago she suggested to her boss, at the radio station she works at, that they should do a one hour KPop program on their station, he was intrigued by the idea and asked her to work up the deets.  Excitedly she did & he liked her ideas so he gave her the 7-8 pm time slot every Sunday night!!  How exciting!  She works on the line up & program all week long & then bam!  A hit show every Sunday night.  You guys have got to check it out!  The show can be found, if you are in the Austin TX area on 103.2 The Fix on Mega HD2.  You can also tune in online here.  OR you can use the TuneIn Radio App on your device.  Shout to you Jen!  Bringing KPop to the US!  Kamsahabnida chingu!  This lucky lady is even attending KCon this month in Los Angeles & is hoping to get some time to talk to the KPop Stars.  What questions would you guise like her to ask GD or f(x)? (just examples)  Leave some comments on this blog post, my Unnie FB profile, the TCA FB profile OR you can even go to the Official Fix Kpop FB page & leave them there, don't forget to Like the page while you're there & show your support for our favorite music!  And then tune in Sunday nights to listen & get your Kpop Groove on!  I know Dongsaeng & I will be listening!

That is all for now AddiKts.  I hope you have a fabulous rest of the week.  Look for the next 2 installments in my reviews for The Master's Sun, this Thursday/Friday.  Can I say how much I LOVE this drama.  So perfect!!  Come on Hong Sisters don't let an Unnie down now, pleasepleasepleasepleasepleaseplease?!?!?!?

Unnie's Wednesday Write Up {{Or Thursday Write Up Whatever}}: Hyun Bin's Comeback!

Helloooooo... Sorry my post is a little later than usual.  My 2nd born son celebrated his 12th Bday Tuesday which meant I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off all day Tuesday & yesterday was catching up on my responsibilities that I neglected in the bday craze.  Family first you know.  It was a great day but let's get down to business shall we?

Last week I showed you my Krazy, a few of you even showed me yours in return...I cannot {{sniff/sniff}} tell you how much it meant to me that you trusted me & felt safe enough here on TCA that you would show me your Krazy too.  Thank you guys.  SO MUCH!

But one of our awesome fellow AddiKts left this comment...

Well sweetie, I listened.  I hope this doesn't let you down!

I had actually seen this news snippet pass by but was too busy w life, to investigate further or pay any real attention, {{I should be ashamed of myself!!}} so I thank you, humbly, for not letting me skip the opportunity to SQUEEE!!!!  Like an insane person of course.  Just keeping it real folks.  It's how I roll.  {{giggle}}

I immediately logged on to one of my fav K news sources, allkpop.  And found this article here. His FIRST EVER Historical role!!  He will play King Jung Jo "The Unfortunate King" in the movie "The King's Wrath".

I am so incredibly excited!!  I love historical movies so much.  And I LOVE Hyun Bin so much!!  Perfect combo is Hyun Bin IN a Historical movie!!  I cannot wait to see it!  Of course I will have a longer wait that those actually living in Asia...what with my being here in the US & Korean movies aren't exactly shown in my neck of the woods.  Like ever!  >:(  Phooey!  Makes me so mad.  But I have good ... no great... no scratch that awesome ... NO scratch THAT I have amazing friends & they know how to hook a girl up w the K Stuff so I will be able to wait...not patiently...for them to hook me up once again.

The only other Hyun Bin movie I've seen was "Late Autumn".  Such an amazing movie.  I highly recommend it.  But grab a box of tissues.  Seriously.   A wonderful reader {{Thank you S Kdramaphan}} told me it can still be found online at Dramacrazy.net  But I warn you, this site has issues when it comes to malware & viruses.  So make sure you have a good security system on your computer & be careful what you open.  There I warned ya...

To help tide you over OR to wet your whistle & leave you wanting more of this movie, I did manage to find the kiss scene that gave me the most amazing butterfly acrobatics ever!  Like OHMYGOSH that looks SO GOOD!!!

I TOLD YOU SO!!!  OMO!!!! OMO!!! OMO!!! OMO!!! OMO!!

Oh Hyun Bin I adore you!!!  Thank you for coming back to work so quickly!!  As I was researching this "latest project" I happened upon this little article, where he reveals whether or not he was worried that he would lose popularity from being gone for 2 years for MS?   I love that he was so humble that he was more concerned that his acting be good enough for those of us, which is still probably everyone on the planet who is; SMART ENOUGH TO KNOW THAT HYUN BIN IS AN ACTING GENIUS AND SHOULD NEVER BE TAKEN FOR GRANTED OR OVERLOOKED BECAUSE HE IS SO TALENTED AND SMART AND HANDSOME AND AMAZING, THAT WE WAITED FOR HIS RETURN ON THE EDGE OF OUR SEATS BECAUSE I LOVE HIM SO FLIPPING MUCH!!!!

O.O

Was that too much?  I'm never quite sure when my inner fan girl takes over if I should have held her back at least a little bit.  Oh well, it's not like you people didn't know I was Krazy!  Duh!  All I can say is I am so happy he's out of the MS & back to work & I am so excited to see his new "Body of Work"

{{giggle ~ wink/wink}}

Of course, I'm hoping he does another drama as well, but I will take whatever scraps he is willing to throw my way.  I hope you guys all have a fabulous day.  And I think I will leave you with a few more delicious Hyun Bin YouTube vids to keep you waiting w baited breath like I am for his new project.  You're welcome.  {^_-}

{Monday Morning Therapy with Dongsaeng} Castaway on the Moon

Well, well, well.  What do we have here?  I'd just like to point out that it is 1) Monday and 2) still morning and that I am 3) posting.  Will wonders never cease?  I'm on a one week streak here!  This is awesome!  And coming off a holiday weekend too.  I mean, wow.  Way to go me.  I just hope I don't let it go to my head, all this awesomeness.

Today I want to switch gears and do something I've yet to try here.  I've reviewed dramas.  I've reviewed books.  I've reviewed music.  I've even chatted about food.  All in an attempt to keep things fresh and cover all sorts of aspects of this K world that has sucked me in lock, stock, and barrel.  One thing I haven't done yet though is cover a movie.  Why?  Well, the most obvious reason being that, until last night, I had only seen one K movie and it was long before I started blogging here, so you know, it didn't exactly ever come to mind as a topic idea.  But last night I watched a movie that has forever been sitting in my Netflix queue and am still, shall I say, "over the moon" about it and would love to spend a moment chatting and sharing the magic with you this fine Monday morning.

As you can probably guess from the oh-so-clever title of this post, the movie was Castaway on the Moon.  Raise your hand if you've seen this fine cinematic treasure.  Anyone?  Hopefully there are some hands raised out there, because really, in my full and unbiased opinion, this is one that shouldn't be missed.  I truly enjoyed this film from beginning to end.  It was funny.  Like trying-hard-not-to-laugh-and-wake-the-sleeping-husband-beside-me, whole-bed-shaking kind of funny.  It was poignant.  It was heartwarming.  It was just a 2 hour treat that I can't wait to share with others and experience again for myself.

The basic premise is that this man tries to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge into the Han River.  Only things don't quite go as planned as he finds himself waking up on the shoreline of an island in the middle of the river.  There he is, stranded on an island, within full view of civilization.  See, right there, that to me is so cool.  You know, like the juxtaposition of it all and other smart sounding words that movie reviewers like to use.  Think Tom Hanks' Castaway, but surrounded by bustling metropolis.  There is so much I want to say and funny moments I'd love to share with you, but I'd hate to give anything away.  It's much better when it's all fresh and surprising.  I will, however, share a very vague reference to one of my absolute favorite parts - the delivery guy.  If you've seen it, you know what I'm talking about.  That part was hysterical and just so, so perfect I could die.  I also loved his "pen pal" - I thought she was phenomenal.  And gorgeous.  I want her hair.  I would have loved to know more about her story, like how she got her scar and if that had anything to do with why she was the way that she was.

I don't really have anything negative to say about this movie, other than maybe the like, two moments?, that were maybe a tad similar to Tom Hanks' movie.  But then again, they were different enough that it wasn't really the same at all.  I just know that when I show it to The Husband, he's going to point it out.  He likes to do that - point out things that he says are rip-offs of something else.  It's rather annoying.  Other than the idea that it is a man stranded on a deserted island for an extended length of time, the two movies really are so very different.  Does he make "friends" with inanimate objects with faces?  Well, yes.  But wouldn't you?  I totally would.  Does he at some point have to say farewell to those "friends"?  Well, I'm not going to tell you that.  But if he does, he does it in a completely different way from Tom Hanks' "Wilson!!!!!!!!!".  Just sayin'.  You know, if it was in there and all.  But I'm not going to give anything away.  My lips are sealed.  I can't speak for my fingers though and since they're the ones actually technically doing the communication at the moment....  Seriously though, they aren't at all the same movie.  The undertone and message of this one is completely different.  It's a beautiful film and worthy of all sorts of praise.  The end.

If you haven't seen it, I would urge you to check out Castaway on the Moon sometime.  And then let us know what you thought of it.  Like on our Facebook page or something.  Whatever.  No pressure.  We're not needy.  Nope, not at all.

If my glowing review isn't enough incentive to invest a couple of hours in cinematic delight, here's a trailer for the movie.  The mushroom scene, by the way, was the one that had me in stitches trying so hard not to laugh hysterically.

In completely unrelated news, there were some new albums/MVs released this weekend.  Lee Seung Gi released his 5 track mini album "Forest".  Unnie has asked to have the pleasure of reviewing that one, so I'm going to leave it to her and not say anymore on it at this time.  But you should know that it's out in case you didn't know already.  Also, TVXQ released their newest MV - Humanoids.  I just now heard it for the first time when I went to find the link for you all.  I usually have to hear a song a few times before I know for sure what I think, so I'll pass on my final judgement for now, but on the first listen, I liked it.  Check it out for yourself if you haven't seen it yet.

To wrap things up today, how about a little SHINee?  This is their PV for their upcoming 1000 Years Always by Your Side.  Pretty boys singing a pretty song with some pretty imaging.  Sounds perfect for a Monday morning.

A little heavy on the SM today, aren't I?

And with that, I'm going to leave you for today.  While it's still morning.  And so that I can go clean my house  watch the newest Full House 2.  I hear rumor that there was a change in hairstyles.  This I have to see for myself.  I wish you all the very best of Mondays and I hope that the rest of your week is swell too. May your post-Turkey-day-back-to-reality go well and whatever leftovers remain still taste delicious.  (I wish I had leftovers.  Two Thanksgiving dinners but I have no leftovers to show for it.  That's what you get when you don't cook the bird yourself.  That's okay.  Still worth it.  Definitely still worth it.)   Thanks for stopping by!

:) 안녕!
