Unnie's Wednesday Write Up: {{Oppa Eye Candy}} **Updated**

It was pointed out to me in a comment, from an awesome reader, that I made a mistake.  I'm so sorry to the Jang Dong Gun fans, like myself.  He is actually 41 not 42.  I apologize for the mistake.  But between the late LATE hour I was writing & the extreme HAWTNESS I feel quite lucky I was able to type at all.  Seriously looking up the pictures for this post was very disarming.  O.O  <--- Me, but with mouth agape & drooling too.  :)  Thanks for the heads up AddiKt, you rock!

Now for the other update... I realized upon waking up this morning that I forgot a most exceptionally sexy & talented Oppa.  So like #5 had a pair of hotties so does #4.  Now you may ask yourselves why does she make it a countdown of 10 when there are obviously 12?  The answer is my... (self imagined & self diagnosed minor case of)... Sigh...I struggled w my post this week AddiKts.  I had a number of different ideas of things I wanted to talk about, some serious others not so much.  Every time I sat down at my computer the last few days I struggled with what I was going to write.  But I guess I will save those more serious posts for later.  Tonight I just want to be light hearted.  When we first started this blog one of my very first posts was all about being "Oppa Krazy".  I used Oppa loosely as most of the guys talked about were actually younger than Dongsaeng & myself.  I realized that I never talk about the Oppas that actually are Oppas to us.  Here & there, once in a while, when I am talking about a drama they are in or when it's their birthday but I have not yet dedicated an entire post specifically to our actual Oppas!  So here it is... I hope you appreciate the Oppa Eye Candy below....

Everybody is always talking about those beautiful young boys that fill our KPop world.  Of course remember I have an age line so I don't go too young, but I too, drool over the idols that are younger than I am...KHJ for example.  But as an older woman I can appreciate the incredibly sexy masculine man that is my age & older just as much as I can the young boy who is still becoming a man.  So below I dedicate this post to all those men that have given me sincere tummy flutters, rapid heart beat, made me sigh through a fantasy or two...million.  Those men that made me think, "DANG! OPPA YOU'RE HAWT!!!"  And thank the Oppa gods themselves for being so very good to me & my imagination.

These aren't really in any particular order except for my TOP 3 but you won't see them till the end...as this post counts down.

I fell in love with Jang Dong Gun while I was watching & reviewing A Gentleman's Dignity.  He was so smooth & articulate & cool, until Jung Yong Hwa showed up then he was a big idiot, giggle.  I couldn't get enough of him.

 When I watched King of Dramas I discovered a man's voice can easily become the sexiest thing I've ever heard & for this guy it's true.  He has got the most amazingly sexy voice on the planet.  

#5 Song Seong Heon age 36

Okay he is not my favorite actor out there.  I've seen 2 dramas of his & he did not wow me with his acting abilities but OMO that body!  Seriously one of the most incredibly classically handsome faces coupled with a most wonderlicious body you know he has to go in my top 5.  

(And yes I know I had 2 number 5's but come on, it's a tie between The Voice & the Look for me.)

#4. Cha Seung Won age 43

I first saw this delectable morsel when I watched The Greatest Love.  Now I admit at first, I wasn't his fan...his character just came off so slimey & weasel like at first that I had a hard time rooting for him but by the 3rd or 4th episode I was a huge fan "Dog Crap Jin". kekekeke...  Then I watched, at the request of several fellow AddiKts, one of his older dramas, City Hall & OMO!!!  It was ...  I was...  Yeah. O.O So HAWT!!  That kiss scene in the car & then the bed scene & I was all....homina homina homina homina....  Then I discovered he was a happily married oppa & my heart was crushed...for me.  Happy for him & his wife but aw man!  Oh well, at least I can enjoy the deliciousness that is CSW!  {{{Psst...he ALSO happens to have an incredibly sexy voice that makes my knees weak.}} 

#4. So Ji Sub age 35

Best friend to Song Seung Hun  & ummm...yeah my first, my only, experience, so far, with this amazing man was when I watched Rough Cut a few months ago.  Funny Story.... I don't as a rule watch anything rated more than PG-13.  It's a personal decision I made when I got married & unless an R rated movie comes on regular TV & is edited (love that loophole) then I haven't seen one in 15 years.  I couldn't tell what Rough Cut was rated but I watched it anyway.  I watched it one night while I was waiting for my son to finish Tae Kwon Do, at his Dojaeng.  I just got to the first sex scene w Kang Ji Hwan's character, not realizing what it was rated I wasn't expecting....THAT.  Made worse by the fact that the timing of this explicit scene coordinated with the little bitty kids (ages 5-10) finishing class & exiting, directly behind me, from the matted area where they have class.  OMO!!  I was way less than cool when I realized these little kids were going to be able to see over my shoulder what I was watching, & worse that their parents might see it too & think I was watching REALLY inappropriate stuff, at a place where there are children gathered.  I had my ear buds in so it wasn't like they could hear but still I jumped & hunched over the screen as I tried to get my iPad to close & finally just flipped the whole thing over as it wouldn't stop playing when I wanted it to.   With bright red cheeks, I tried to remain calm & prayed no one had spotted what I was watching.  Yeah not my most graceful or intelligent moment.  

But I am so incredibly excited to watch his performance in his upcoming drama The Master's Sun, which starts next week, & which will be my next drama review here on TCA.   He was amazing in Rough Cut,a phenomenal actor, with phenomenal looks.  Win/win IMHO.  :)

#3. Kang Ji Hwan age 36

The Oppa who stole my heart with his amazing kisses in Lie To Me.  Seriously 3 of the best kisses in KDramas are because of this guy.  He was absolutely spectacular in Incarnation of Money, I just can't get enough of him!  I adore him!  Picking just 2 pictures was torture for me.  

#2 Lee Byung Hun age 43

My first real Oppa crush is this guy.  I fell hard for him too.  He is so talented & so hot it was impossible to not fall hard for him.  When he started dating Lee Min Jung, I was completely torn in 2.  One side of me was so happy that he finally found the love of his life so he wouldn't be alone anymore.  And part of me wanted to scratch her eyes out.  In fact in my personal little group of K friends I refer to her as only, "Whatsherface".  I refuse to say her name and act as petty & ridiculous as I can.  He was supposed to be mine!!  {{Don't tell my husband that though.}}  kekekeke...  Seriously though I wish him every happiness, he deserves it all.

{{{Psst...keep this on the DL, but I went with my husband to see Red 2, the weekend it came out, & it took all my willpower to not scream like a crazy person during his nude scene & I had to use all my effort to not run & jump on the screen to lick him!  Seriously the "Squeeeing in my head was deafening!!}}} 

AND finally ....

#1. Bae Yong Joon age 40

Yes this is my #1 actual Oppa Eye Candy.  Bae Yong Joon is ethereally beautiful.  He's one of the few men that when their hair is long they are even sexier.  No, I'm not a fan of men w long hair but OMO does it work for him!!  He's just perfection.  He can act too.  Seriously, sincerely fiercely act.  I adore him.  He has it all...looks, talents, body, ambition, heart just all of it.  I couldn't figure out what it was about him that made him so incredibly sexy to me & then a friend pointed out...he looks like an older version of Kim Hyun Joong.  And I realized...I have a type. LOL  Ethereally beautifully perfect men.  Not a bad type to have in my opinion.

Happy Birthday to Leeteuk

We all know that being a fan of this world that one of the hardest parts of being a crazed Fan Girl is the fact that it is nearly impossible to have just ONE bias.  As much as I adore KHJ, he is not my only bias.  So you see even I, whom it would seem suffers severe tunnel vision in regards to her special guy (who has no idea she exists or would even be remotely interested in the old lady who silently stalks him on the internet) suffers from multiple bias syndrome.  And like many of you, each new drama, each new group, each new singer introduces me to another possible one sided love affair.  About 15 months ago it happened to me with today's birthday tribute.  I liked SuJu well enough, each man quite cute & talented & such different personalities.  Then this one made his I'm going into the military announcement & my Pinterest page was suddenly being flooded by fan girl pins of Leeteuk.  And then I remembered him from the Google K Pop Concert in San Fran last May.  And I remembered how incredibly cute his little dimples, his smile, his personality was.  And I was in love....again.  giggle.

(sigh...the power of cute dimples gets me every stinking time!)

Well, today, (July 1st) I celebrate some of the cutest dimples on the planet as their adorkably sweet/sexy owner turns 30 years old.  Leeteuk you are adorable!!  Never change who you are!

Some facts about Leeteuk.  His real name is Park Jeong-su.  He's a singer/songwriter, actor, & MC/television host.  And he is the leader of the Super K Pop group Super Junior.

He is just 2.5 months from finishing up his first year of military service & has just over one year to go.  And in April 2007, we almost lost Leeteuk in a major car accident.  Alongside 3 other SuJu members & 2 of their managers.  Where he sustained severe injuries; including shards of glass imbedded in his back & above his eyes, that required 170 stitches.  It also messed his spine so badly that when he is shirtless you can see that his upper abs are slightly crooked, they do not line up.  I was sure after that he wouldn't have to serve in active ms but Leeteuk has proven he is a fighter & he is loyal & will not allow anyone stop him.  He is such an amazing person & I am very proud of him, even though I don't actually know him (or he me, for that matter).

So here I am, & Dongsaeng too wanting to wish a remarkable man a very happy birthday!  We are so glad we are able to celebrate your birth, & are so grateful you are still with us.  Sending you love, happiness & wishes for a birthday filled w love from your family, friends & fans.  That you can sincerely feel our best wishes & prayers on your behalf.

Unnie's Wednesday Write Up: {{Happy Birthday Kim Hyun Joong-ssi}}

As of right this moment it is nearly 2 pm in Seoul, South Korea on Thursday June 6th.  Here in Wisconsin, where I live, it is nearly midnight on June 5th.  In just a few more minutes my #1 of all time bias will be another year older.  If you remember last year I wrote him this Bday tribute.  Well, of course I can't possibly re-tribute so here is this year's all new tribute.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KIM HYUN JOONG!!!!!!

This marks my second birthday tribute to the man I call MY KHJ.

{{Yes, I know he isn't actually mine, duh.  Which I am sure my husband really appreciates.}}

I, oh so happily, wish you the very best of days today.  I hope you are being showered w love & lots of praise from your family & from those real friends in your life.   

Now, lest you should think me a stalker or bizarre or insane, whatever adjective works best, I admit I have never actually met you, {{I know that seems like a serious oversight on his part to not make it a priority to meet ME!!  *kekeke*}} AND I sincerely & highly doubt any kind of meeting is in any way shape or form a possibility.  I only know what you & the media surrounding you has allowed me to know.  But, from what I have seen on my computer, the portal through which I get to enjoy all things "Korean", you seem like an incredibly kind, dedicated, loyal man.  Someone is kind to those in need; honest, straightforward, hard working, talented, compassionate & humble.  You are indeed an incredibly good looking man, but to me, along with the outside, it is your inside that seems to speak to me the most.  When I see how much you love & appreciate your fans, of ALL ages, I am truly touched.   The hours you keep, the hard work & effort you put in to making sure your fans are satisfied & happy & entertained is inspiring & enervating.  I truly do wish you only good things; joy, love, success, health, & the stamina & strength to achieving those dreams.  May this year bring you all of those things & many more.

Unnie's Wednesday Write Up {{Or Thursday Write Up Whatever}}: Hyun Bin's Comeback!

Helloooooo... Sorry my post is a little later than usual.  My 2nd born son celebrated his 12th Bday Tuesday which meant I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off all day Tuesday & yesterday was catching up on my responsibilities that I neglected in the bday craze.  Family first you know.  It was a great day but let's get down to business shall we?

Last week I showed you my Krazy, a few of you even showed me yours in return...I cannot {{sniff/sniff}} tell you how much it meant to me that you trusted me & felt safe enough here on TCA that you would show me your Krazy too.  Thank you guys.  SO MUCH!

I had actually seen this news snippet pass by but was too busy w life, to investigate further or pay any real attention, {{I should be ashamed of myself!!}} so I thank you, humbly, for not letting me skip the opportunity to SQUEEE!!!!  Like an insane person of course.  Just keeping it real folks.  It's how I roll.  {{giggle}}

I immediately logged on to one of my fav K news sources, allkpop.  And found this article here. His FIRST EVER Historical role!!  He will play King Jung Jo "The Unfortunate King" in the movie "The King's Wrath".

I am so incredibly excited!!  I love historical movies so much.  And I LOVE Hyun Bin so much!!  Perfect combo is Hyun Bin IN a Historical movie!!  I cannot wait to see it!  Of course I will have a longer wait that those actually living in Asia...what with my being here in the US & Korean movies aren't exactly shown in my neck of the woods.  Like ever!  >:(  Phooey!  Makes me so mad.  But I have good ... no great... no scratch that awesome ... NO scratch THAT I have amazing friends & they know how to hook a girl up w the K Stuff so I will be able to wait...not patiently...for them to hook me up once again.

The only other Hyun Bin movie I've seen was "Late Autumn".  Such an amazing movie.  I highly recommend it.  But grab a box of tissues.  Seriously.   A wonderful reader {{Thank you S Kdramaphan}} told me it can still be found online at Dramacrazy.net  But I warn you, this site has issues when it comes to malware & viruses.  So make sure you have a good security system on your computer & be careful what you open.  There I warned ya...

To help tide you over OR to wet your whistle & leave you wanting more of this movie, I did manage to find the kiss scene that gave me the most amazing butterfly acrobatics ever!  Like OHMYGOSH that looks SO GOOD!!!

I TOLD YOU SO!!!  OMO!!!! OMO!!! OMO!!! OMO!!! OMO!!  

Oh Hyun Bin I adore you!!!  Thank you for coming back to work so quickly!!  As I was researching this "latest project" I happened upon this little article, where he reveals whether or not he was worried that he would lose popularity from being gone for 2 years for MS?   I love that he was so humble that he was more concerned that his acting be good enough for those of us, which is still probably everyone on the planet who is; SMART ENOUGH TO KNOW THAT HYUN BIN IS AN ACTING GENIUS AND SHOULD NEVER BE TAKEN FOR GRANTED OR OVERLOOKED BECAUSE HE IS SO TALENTED AND SMART AND HANDSOME AND AMAZING, THAT WE WAITED FOR HIS RETURN ON THE EDGE OF OUR SEATS BECAUSE I LOVE HIM SO FLIPPING MUCH!!!!

Like a Man {Dongsaeng talks about stuff on whatever day she happens to talk about stuff}

Brag moment.  Has anyone seen this floating around the interwebs?  Perhaps on Pinterest?  I don't know how it got there originally, but I was thrilled when I started to see it make the rounds.  Why?  Because I made it!  All by my very self (with a little help from ImageChef.com.  Okay, so all I did was enter the words, they did the rest, but still...)!  Back when we were creating TCA and trying to come up with an image that was our own and not pirated because we try our best to be on the up-and-up around here.  We ended up going a different direction, but it made me pleased as punch to see this start popping up randomly and to see the positive reaction to it.  Shameless self-promotion?  You betcha!  Look, I know it's not something actually important that I have contributed here to the world, but still, it's fun to see my creation floating around in the cybersphere without my doing.  And yeah, I'm going to raise my hand loud and proud and claim it.  I get so few of these moments, indulge me for a bit, okay?  ;)

That's right.  It's Tuesday.  Not Monday.  I missed my normal Monday Morning Therapy.  Whatcha' goin' do about it?  No, really, I was going to act all thug and stuff like I just don't care, but, well, that doesn't work so well.  Mostly because I am so not thug, but also because I do feel a teensy bit sad I missed my day with you all.  It was just one of those days.  I had been so sick Sunday and in so much pain I was contemplating do-it-yourself-at-home-surgery with a spoon.  That compounded with the fact that my husband took off on a last-minute trip Sunday morning to San Francisco for a few days to help out his sister and mother, and I have just been a big blob of do-nothing laziness.  Plus, and since when has this ever really stopped me, but I couldn't think of a thing to say.

I'm still at a bit of a loss as to what today's topic should be.  What's really frustrating is that I woke up at 6 this morning with this whole flood of ideas.  It was magical.  I pretty much wrote an entire post in my head and it was fabulous, let me tell you.  Funny and perfect for this Tuesday morning.  And then I went back to sleep.  Bad idea.  I woke up in a complete and total fog.  Brain has turned off.  All the brilliance from early this morning gone.  I remember that it was here, but not what it contained.  Beauty.  Let that be a lesson to me...when brilliance strikes, jump on the computer no matter what hour.  Now I have to try and force myself to be witty and flow with the engaging banter.  In other words, we're all in trouble.

Something caught my attention this morning on AllKpop.com.  It was an article about someone my friends and I affectionately refer to as "Baby Oppa", aka Yoo Seung Ho.  It included this very nice picture of him...

and spoke of his recent military assignment upon completion of basic training.  P.S.  I love how they blur the gun in this shot.  Oh Korea, you are awesome.  I love how you try to protect our innocence from violence such as a weapon being given to a soldier, yet some of the most shocking violence I've seen on screen has been in your dramas.  (In all fairness, that's not saying much as I do not watch any rated R movies and generally steer away from, well, all TV except for the funny stuff).  But I digress.....

What I wanted to say about this is how impressive this young man has been.  Now, being married to the ultimate cynic, some of that cynicism has undoubtedly worn off on me.  I'll admit, there's a part of me that admits this can all be part of his public image strategy.  Who knows.  But I'm going to speak here on the assumption that it is not and that he is genuine in every move he is making here.  First, his entrance into basic training was spectacular in its glaring lack of spectacle.  He entered the service quietly and ON TIME!  It wasn't made public until he was already safely ensconsed in the barracks.  No fanfare.  No press conference.  No posing in front of the staged backdrop with hordes of cameras surrounding him.  No months of lead up.  Was it a surprise?  No.  There had been plenty of rumors floating around that his enlistment was eminent, however, the actual day of enlistment went by quietly and without news until he was already there.  As far as the timing of his going (you know, since he went at the age that generally young men go instead of waiting until the very last second like so many other celebrities do), I have to applaud him.  I love that he left on such a high note.  He has been making quite the name for himself professionally.  He could have easily continued to ride that wave, but instead he made the decision to get the MS over with.  Genius move on his part.  He's been playing such adult roles at such a young age.  Seriously, this guy is amazing and it's hard to believe he's as young as he is.  I really do expect great things to come from him throughout his career.  But see the genius of it all?  He makes a name for himself and then takes off for 2 years.  When he comes back, he'll be at a perfect age to continue on with his career, almost as if he never left, thanks to his early start, or rather, explosion into, in the industry.  I think it was a brilliant move on his part.

Okay, that kind of got away from me there.  Sorry.  What I really wanted to mention is how he wants to enter the normal service and not the entertainment division.  He wants to be with his peers.  He wants to be a regular soldier.  I love and respect that so much.  Like I said, yes, this may just be all a calculated move to garner good press and positive public opinion, but we're going to assume the best and that he is sincere in his desires to be "normal" and not "special".

Yoo Seung Ho is clearly out of my, shall we say, targeted age bracket?  I generally try to stay within a 10 year radius.  I won't say by how much he misses this target, but just that he does.  Normally this would keep him safe from my Kougar eyes, but there's something special about him that earns him the title and distinction of Baby Oppa.  And that is his obvious maturity level.  Calendars don't always tell the complete story about age and maturity.  Take for us for example.  I mean, we're prime examples of people clearly not acting our age ;-P  He plays mature roles.  He makes mature life decisions such as shown here.  And that's why I can't help but love him.  I fought it for so long, but finally had to concede defeat.  I finally had to bow to the powers of Baby Oppa, a young man seemingly wise beyond his years.

And that was a whole lot more than I planned on saying.  Really I meant just a few lines.  This is what happens when I write with a foggy brain.  I ramble.  I should go and edit, and maybe I will later when the fog lifts.

In drama news, no, I still haven't found a drama to review.  I'm earnestly searching and eagerly anticipate a speedy return to the review scene.  That's not to say that I haven't been watching anything.  I finally was able to catch up on Incarnation of Money late last night thanks to my marathon of lazy the past couple of days.  What a good drama this one is!  Maybe I should have chosen this one to review, but darn it all, too late now. I'm already 20 episode in.  Bummer.  (Okay, so the real truth is that this one would be challenging to review and I got scared).  Ooh, I also started my very first Taiwanese drama - Summer Fever.  I am past the halfway point with it and am enjoying it.  It's fun to see the differences between the K and T dramas.  I like some things about one better than the other and vice versa.  For example, I have LOVED that, in at least this particular drama, they TALK!  There is real communication.  Misunderstandings don't stretch on and on.  Secrets are soon revealed.  The stress level is so much lower and my heart thanks them for that.  Not to mention the romance!  There is instant romance.  The production quality is better with the K dramas though.  That and, as I'm reluctant to admit, but the high-stress drama of K dramas holds my interest a lot more.  I was hooked immediately on Summer Fever and watched non-stop.  But now I'm at a point where the main leads are together and my interest level has waned.  I love them together, but see the obvious - we have a lot more episodes to go so heartbreak is surely coming soon.  Right now everything is happy and bright and so I'm finding it difficult to want to continue, knowing that it's not going to continue to be happy and bright.  Of course it will all be resolved in the end, but why bother, you know?  We're already there.  Things are pretty good.  Why mess with it?  Why go through tough stuff just to end up back where we are now?  Can't I just stop here and call it good?  Tack on a "and they lived happily ever after" and we're set.  That trials and tribulations follow are just a given, because that's how life works.  Do I have to see it acted out?  Okay, so I'm mostly kidding, but still....  I'm sure I'll finish it, I just wanted to note my very first foray into T dramas.  A journey that Unnie made long before me, but one that took me some more time.

Now, I know it's not Monday, but I suppose I shouldn't leave without a bit of Tuesday Therapy at least, right? It's no secret that both Unnie and I are big Lee Hi fans. I love her songs and videos that she has been releasing. One that may have missed your notice though, if you only follow the MV releases, is a song from her First Love pt 1 album and which has skyrocketed to my now favorite Lee Hi song, called Dream. There's no video for me to share of it, but if you haven't heard it yet, don't miss it! Here's an audio only version. I tried embedding it here, but something is broken in the code, so the best I can provide is a link.  I highly recommend picking it up if you haven't yet.  You can find it on iTunes.  Once you have it, try sharing it with others. Out of all of her work to date, I think this is the most relatable for anyone regardless of their current KPop status. In all honesty I could see this playing on American radio. I think it deserves some attention. It's beautiful and her voice just shines.  Let's show others that there's more to KPop than a silly horsey dance.  :)

Unnie's WWU: Merry Christmas AddiKts

I told you to look for a short WWU on Wednesday.  Well, it's still Wednesday and here is my post.  Why so late?  Because I spent the entire day out, officially finishing all my Christmas shopping.  Let the dancing commence!  We are expecting a great big snow storm in this part of the world starting tonight & all through tomorrow (we'll probably only get about 3-6 inches...anybody besides me notice that they even sensationalize the weather nowadays?) maybe we'll get a White Christmas after all.  {{fingers crossed for White Christmas}}  Guess we'll see tomorrow.  So tomorrow I will be baking my ahjumma hiney off.  Yay!   So this post is coming from a very dedicated Crazy Ahjumma who, even though she is exhausted, her feet hurt, her back hurts from all the lugging, carrying, hefting, & from spending money all day long, she took the time tonight to write to you all & wish you a very Merry Christmas.  Next week we will be on official TCA vacation!  No posts from either of us.  As we will both be completely immersed in our loving families & friends.  Hopefully you will be too.
